Annual Tournament 2014

   Annual Tournament Calendar

Lanna: Monday 20 Oct 2014 The first round of the 2014 Annual tournament has been completed with the results noted on the listed link.  The committee would like to thank all the members who participated today as every aspect when off with out a hitch. As stated during our post match luncheon the winners of the 100 baht competition for each round will be announced, complete with pay-out, during the awards dinner on November 1, 2014.  Also, the closest to the “Pin” category will also be announced at the awards dinner.  In addition, those who “Teeded” off last at Lanna will tee-off first (or close to it) at Highlands. Please check our website Wednesday afternoon to reference your groups and tee-off times. Lastly, lets again make sure we are all at the course at least 45-60 minutes prior to your scheduled tee-off time. In review we had some great scores today but are most confident that others will also post some great scores this coming Thursday at Highlands.  The race to the finish has just started with a lot more golf to be played. Hats off to today’s winners, but be aware there are many in the field that are still in the chase! In closing, good luck to those playing at Highlands this coming Thursday and most importantly have fun and enjoy the time we spend on the links. Result: Results Annual Lanna 20.10.14

Highlands: Thursday 23rd Oct 2014

First of all the committee would like to take this opportunity to apologize for the mix up with the starting times at Highlands. We thank all those who participated for their patience coupled with hearing little to no complaints concerning this oversight.  As one member stated, it could have been worse if we had the wrong day scheduled.

The general consensus of the players was that the course was in excellent conditions from Tee Box to Fairways to the greens. Basically, the course could not have been better accept for some of those difficult ball consuming fairway bunkers.

Relative to the weather we started our respective rounds under somewhat overcast skies and hot and humid conditions. The weather changed dramatically as a thunder storm rolled in during the final few holes of the last playing groups. With approximately (2) holes to play, for the last groups,  a heavy downpour started subsequently resulting in a few players not finishing the 17th and/or 18th hole.

In the end, some great scores were posted by both low and high handicappers making the race to the finish to close to call after completing 2 legs of our tournament.  At this juncture only a couple of strokes separate the top 10 places in both the male and female division. The next (2) matches at Maejo and Doi Inthanon will, as in the past, be the deciding factor.

Lastly, and as stated previously, the competition (100 Baht ) prize money and the closest to the pin prizes will be awarded at the annual dinner party.

In closing, we look forward to seeing everyone at Maejo next Wednesday on October 29, 2014 with a confirmed starting time of 8:00 for the first group.  Also please note that for the next (2) matches we will be starting off the front and back nine holes which will greatly eliminate the long wait for the last scheduled groups. Again, those who were in the last groups the first two matches will go off first at Maejo.

Results : Annual Results Highlands

Maejo: Wednesday 29th Oct 2014 Tee-Off 08:00

Green Fee/Caddy Fee 1.400 Baht

The closest to the Pin Hole # 7 and Hole # 14

Another great turn-out at Maejo for the 3rd leg of our 2014 Annual Tournament.  Everyone showed up on schedule resulting in an orderly start off of the front and back nine holes.  Today the weather was on the hot side with sunny skies throughout our round.  The first groups completed their respective rounds under (4) hours as we virtually had the course to ourselves. At this time we would like to take the opportunity to thank  the Maejo starters ( Nah and Tum ) for coordinating our tee-off schedule. Relative to the golf results we had a number of good scores but none posting in the 40’s subsequently keeping it a tight race to the finish.  As usual the final leg at Doi Inthanon will again be the deciding factor in crowning our new champions Our post luncheon at the Caddy shack went off without a hitch and everyone received their food in a timely manner.  It should be noted that some of our beer drinkers stayed a long time today possibly reviewing todays golf scores.  Also, as reported by Gordon Langtry, it should be announced that if you drink Heineken beer instead of Chang or Leo  you usually will have a higher class hangover! The scheduled tee-off time for Doi Inthanon is 9:00 am for the first groups going off both the front and back nine holes.  Also, everyone must share a cart so the members are encouraged to arrange your carts once the groupings have been published.  Please be at the course a minimum of 30 minutes prior to the first scheduled group teeing off a 9:00 am.

Doi Inthanon: Friday 31st Oct 2014 Tee-Off 09:00

Green Fee/Caddy Fee/ Cart Fee 1.200 baht

The closest to the Pin Hole # 6 and Hole # 16t

The final leg of the Annual tournament was completed at Doi Inthanon complete with another great turn out of our members.  Again we started our rounds off the front and back nine holes on schedule and without any mishaps.  The weather was ideal for golfing as we played under clear skies with variable light breezes throughout the day.

The condition of the course was great with no complaints what so ever from any of the members.  Also the starters at Doi Inthanon were most helpful in getting us all off on time plus placing the closest to the pin markers for us.  On a surprising note we heard today that the English Manager of the club was terminated. Relative to the golf results we had (3) members posting scores of 40 and higher coupled with (2) members posting scores of 39 points each.  Of course these great scores had a huge effect on the final standings. On a special note Mr. Ron Hill teeing off from the red tee box on one occasion did not drive his ball past the red tees.  Thinking about it this is quite hard to comprehend and possibly it is a great achievement.   Ron was also most gracious in that he bought a round of beers for the members in his group. On a closing note we look forward to seeing everyone at the Annual party and awards ceremony tomorrow evening. Annual Party and Awards Ceremony will be on November 1st (Saturday) starting at 18:00 hours at the Mae Ping Imperial Garden close to the Night Bazaar. Participation List below

2014  Annual Party / Awards Ceremony

Based on the input from all our members it was unanimous that Saturday evening’s  party was one of the best ever held.   Every aspect of the party from the location, seating and table arrangements, food, drinks, audio visual and  music to the children’s play ground all received an A+ rating.  It also should be mentioned that all the staff of the Imperial Mae Ping hotel met all our expectations and more from serving the beer & wine to answering any special requests.  In conclusion, it was a fantastic evening and a great success.
