The front was won by Frank Schwarz with 16 points, the back was won by Lennart with 18 points and the overall was tied between David Urlwin and Gary Lyon with 34 points. Congratulations to all Winner.

North Hill, 24.02.17

Apologies to those who were unaware of the earlier tee-off time and I will endeavor to ensure that all future tee-off times comply with the advertised time on our CMSG website.  That is 8:30am but please be at the course and submit your scorecard to the captain by 8am when a random draw will be carried out for the days groupings.

Today there were 11 members (10 in comp) and one guest in the usual stableford event. No one managed to birdie the 13th again and the prize will carry over to next Friday.  The winner today was Brian Heuston with 32 points and tied for second were Ralph Hamilton and Roger Mack with 31 points. Apologies to Roger who had left before the recently returned captain finally remembered to take the results photo.

A reminder that CMSG rules do not allow “gimme” puts.  If you pick up, no points.

A trophy has been donated anonymously in memory of Eddie Millar who was of Irish origin and died last year just before St. Patricks Day.  Eddie was one of the founding members of CMSG. The donor stipulated that the trophy should be awarded at an event played each year at North Hill on or near the anniversary of his death.  It was also decided that Eddie being a bit of a stickler for the rules and dead keen on stroke events that we would make it a stroke event. It is proposed to hold this event on Friday 17 March.

Mae Moh, 23.02 17

All 18 Players arrived well ahead of the projected Tee Off time at 9am. However we got of the #1 Tee Box at 09:05. The Golf course was in great shape and not busy at all but for some unknown reason the groups needed almost 5 hours to get around.

Six groups were within 3 points. We had 2 teams tied for 1st price with 42 points. The Winners are Jack Cooper & Kenny Jones and Ashley Kim Sing & Ralph Hamilton.

Well done guys.

Remember on 23.03.17 @ Gassan Khuntan we have the International Tournament. Start putting your teams together. We will have the Event posted over this weekend.

Lanna, 20.02.17

Today saw 18 members and 1 guest play Lanna 1+2, and it was a pretty quick round for the 5 groups. Scoring was a little on the low side so the runner-up position was a tie between Gerald Greba and Julian Wing both having 33 points. Outright winner was Noi Taylor with 35 points.

A few people are leaving us for between 3 and 10 months – they are Gordon Langtry, Gerald Greba, and Yukio Doi, so we wish them all the best and will see them when they return.

Frank Schwarz and Nigel Stubbs will be performing captain’s duties for the next 3 weeks.

Gerald, Noi, & Julian

North Hill, 17.02.17

Only 13 members and 1 guest for the Friday trudge around the canyons of North Hill today. Supposed to go from Tee #10, but went from Tee #1 instead – there’s a surprise! The planned format was Stableford Nassau but half the players would have ended up on the winner’s podium, so thanks for the sensible suggestion of just awarding 2 prizes to the tied winners. They were Jomo Mac Dermott and Yung Beece with 32 points each. Pretty poor scoring today and also nobody won the Birdie Hole #13. Captain Gary Walker will be resuming duties next Friday – my 3 month secondment is over and it’s time for a holiday. Booking for next week is at 8:10 from Tee #10 so you will no doubt tee off from Tee #1.

Jomo & Yung

Mae Jo, 17.02.17

We had 18 members for our stableford comp. today. Some good scores were recorded, in equal 2nd. was Andy and Randy with 37 points and our winner today was Joop who has been playing quite well of late with 38 points. Well done to our winners. See you on Monday.

Randy, Andy & Joop

Inthanon, 15.02.17

Some reported that there were over 80 players from CMSG at Inthanon today, but it could have been the alternative facts. Officially only 4 cards submitted from the CMSG players in attendance plus one guest. A 5.5 hour round didn’t seem that long because of the gregarious nature of the 5-ball.  There was a lively, but good natured, discussion on the rules about playing a provisional ball on the 6th hole (after the tee shot went in to the hazard) which at the end of the round remained unresolved.

Ralph Hamilton was the sole winner on 36 points followed by Julian in second on 34.  Bob and Ashley tied for third place.

Ralph

Mae Jo, 15.02.17

Another early bird Tee Time was drawing out 17 members for a Strokeplay event. And it was a great day for the Vice Captain Ric Cameron. But first lets talk about the other Winners. In third place with an net even 72 was Ronny Peters and in 2nd place with a good performance on his first game after his return with a net 68 was John de Jong. Back to Ric, he had the round of the month with 3 birdies which left his Caddy Tik in schock (we wish her a fast recovery). It all added up to a great net Score of 65.

His Handicap was cut by 3 shots.

Congrats to all Winners.

John, Ronny & Ric

Mae Jo, 13.02.17

We had 19 members playing stableford today and another hole in 1 by Bob Green on 14, well done Bob. In 3rd. place on 32 points was Joop in 2nd. on 35 was Iain and our winner today was Harry on 37 points. Well done to all, see you on Wednesday.

Joop,Bob,Iain and Harry.

Lanna, 13.02.17

Lanna today had plenty of golf tourists so our 5 groups were a bit late teeing off and the round was pretty slow. We were following a 6-ball and a 5-ball who were enjoying wandering around aimlessly trying to find the next food stop, however I believe that we all finished in less than 5 hours.

The course was playing really well and scoring was reasonably high with there being a tie for second place -Ted Taylor and Nigel Jones with 35 points each, and dual winners – Lawrence Nahlik and Peter Brown with 37 points each.

There was 1 guest with us today from Australia who will hopefully join us again at North Hill this week, and it was great to see Allan Gariano back to his best golfing form again. Next week is another Stableford round at the usual time and hopefully the course won’t be so crowded.

Nigel, Peter, Lawrence, & Laughing Ted

North Hill, 13.02.17

the winners are Brian Heuston, 33 and Tied 2nd — Curtis Nickel and Camilla Dwyer on 32. Below is a reminder for everyone, to the new Player of the Year system all members agreed:

  • Any player who does not turn his/her card in at the end of the road gets 0 points for that round. Of course, if the player is injured or physically sick or there is an emergency so she/he cannot finish the round, then no penalty.

Curtis, Brian & Camilla

North Hill, 10.02.17

Another great day for golf at North Hill and there were 5 groups comprising 16 members and 4 guests all ready to go off tee # 10 at 8am because, as we’d been repeatedly advised, they had a large agency booking. But we didn’t – we went off tee #1 on an otherwise empty course – no surprises there!

Anyway, a reasonably quick round saw 5 members come in with 31 points each thus eliminating 3rd place from the proceedings. So, only 2 prizes today – Ashley Kim-Sing came 2nd with 36 points and Soren Nielson was the winner with 39 points. My wayward drive from the 13th hit Soren (who was on the 12th) on the shoulder and he went on to get multiple birdies and 24 points on the back-9. Go figure!

Soren & Ashley

Mae Jo 10.02.17

16 players for stableford game today. Harry aced number 14 and shouted beer !! Well done.

Hole in One #14 by Harry.

We had a 2 way tie for 3rd. on 33 points were Harry and Rob and our winners today were Ronny, Craig and Stuart on 35 points. Stuart has been showing a bit of form lately but winning in the buff zone no handicap reduction. Congrats to our winners, see you on Monday at 12.00.

Rob, Stuart, Ronny, Craig & Harry

Inthanon, 08.02.17

A low turnout today with 7 members, 1 guest and 6 in the competition and over 5 hours to complete our rounds. Our ersatz Inthanon captain, Smiley, had a split tee format starting with Blue, White and then Yellow for each set of 3 holes.  Scoring proved to be no different than when playing all 18 holes from the white tees.

Winner was Bob “Birdman” Green with 3 birdies narrowly missing a fourth and 41 points with Gary Burke taking second place with 38. Bob narrowly missed an even par back 9 of 36 strokes when he missed a short putt for par on the 18th and walked off with a bogey.

Gary & Bob

Mae Jo, 08.02.17

Today 17 players (16 members and one guest) came to the sunrise Stableford format. Another nice day for Golf with a bit on chill site this morning. Scoring was okay and with 35 points (always consistent) Ronny Peters in 3rd place, in 2nd was Tom Berger with an even 36 points and todays Winner was with 37 points Stuart Duncan who had a great back nine.

Congratulation to all Winners.

See you all on Friday

Tom, Ronny & Stuart

Mae Jo, 06.02.17

Another great turn out today with 20 members playing our stroke round. We had a 3 way tie for 3rd. on net.75 was Harry, Bob and Ronny in a tie also for 1st. was  Randy and Kuzie on net 74. We had 1 group that watched the super bowl this morning and had  a few before ariving to play and came in 55 minutes after all others had finished. They seamed quite happy !!! Thanks to all for comming  and congrats to the winners. See you on Wednesday.

North Hill, 06.02.17

The winners were Brian Heuston, 31 and Ralph Hamilton, 30

Lanna, 06.02.17

Fifteen players showed up this morning for the monthly trek around the Racecourse and Course 1, and we played Stableford with special scorecards. It was a bit slow because the overseas visitors were out in force, but very enjoyable conditions otherwise.

Today the long Par-3 Birdie Hole was taken out by Yukio Doi so we will start afresh next week. 3rd Place was awarded to Ted Taylor with 34 points, 2nd place went to Nigel Stubbs with 35 points, and 1st place went to Soren Nielson with 37 points.

Please note that next week is a late kick-off at 8:52am because when I booked 2 months ago I couldn’t get anything else, but they may be able to slot us in earlier depending on who else turns up on the day.

Ted, Soren, & Nigel – after only 1 beer each!

North Hill, 03.02.17

Nice relaxed morning for 15 members playing Stableford around North Hill today. No hold-ups and nice weather throughout so there was no excuse for the Captain plonking 10 balls in the water and coming last again.

As we sat waiting for the last couple of cards, Gordon Langtry with 38 points was busily eyeing up the top prize, but then in came Christian Friis with 41 points to take 1st place. Allen Norris (who is disappearing home for 8 months) was awarded 3rd place with 35 points. There were also 3 players with 34 points so well done to all concerned.

Next week will be Stableford again (for 5 groups), but we have to start at 8:00am on Hole #10 because they have a large “Agency” booking that day. So come early and I’ll start you off early.

Gotta love this photo of Gordon, Christian, and Allen.

Mae Jo, 03.02.17

18 members and 1 guest played with some good scores recorded. In 3rd. was Stuart on 36 points and joint winners today were Ron and Tom with 38 points. Thank you all and see you on Monday 12.00 start.

Tom, Ron & Stuart

Inthanon, 01.02.17

Today at Inthanon, we had 17 players 15 members and 2 guest. It was a very slow round as the course was rarther busy so it took 5 hours and 15 minutes for most of us. Winner today was Smiley with 38 points, two runner ups was Barry and Gordon with 35 points and third was Curtis with 34 points well done to all.

Hope to have a good crowd next week.

Curtis, Smiley, Gordon & Barry O.

Mae Jo, 01.02.17
