We had eight players in the competition playing Nassau format. Dorian was submitting his 3rd card for handicap and we welcomed back George Macdonald who rejoined the society today. It was nice and sunny for a change with no clouds to be seen. The course remains in good condition and the ground staff have started cutting back some of the deeper rough on some holes. No delays on the turn and the first group were finished in 2hrs 45 minutes. The front nine was won by Garry with 17 points and Christian won the back nine also with 17 points. We had a 3 way tie on 36 points with Danie, Julian and Brian sharing the top spot. We also said farewell to Ian who is departing in a few days for his new base in Khon Kaen. Safe travels and hopefully we will catch up again next year with an Isan Golfing Trip.

What a loverly day at MaeJo today, the weather was very kind it was bright and very warm and not oversubscribed. Today we had 14 players registered with 13 in the competitiom which was a 2 person best ball (blind draw). In 3rd place on 43 points was Iain Craig & Roger Bishop, in 2nd place on 45 points was Randy & Aom Teisl, but our winners today on 48 points was Kay Kay Otten & Rick Gregory. The birdie hole remains intact, well done everyone.

We had 9 of us today, 3 groups of 3, but one of us saw fit to DQ himself early on so there are only 8 on the scorecard, alas!
The winners on the day were Julian, Kay Kay, and Randy, with Nathan coming 4th. The the birdie hole also went off to Ian for a paltry amount. We played Courses 1 & 2 but on reflection should have played 3 & 1 as Hole 16 on Course 2 was out of commission so we finished up playing Hole 10 again with mixed results.
Today signalled an end of an erra with Ian standing down as Lanna Captain, handing the reins over to Paul Wearmouth & heading to greener climbs in Khon Kaen. Good luck with it all an see you all again sometime.
I would just like to thank Ian for everything he has done for the Society and wish him and his wife happiness and a great future in Khon Kaen. Thanks Ian

18 players today. Thought we might get rained out today, but we all finished in under 4 hours. Today’s format was Stableford. No takers for the birdie hole (#14). In a tie for 2nd place on 39 points was Lamyai, Kay Kay and Aom. In solo first place with a score of 41 points was Eric.

You can take free relief from an artificially surfaced cart path under Rule 16.1 because it is classified as an immovable obstruction.
Steps to Take Free Relief
- Check for interference: Relief is allowed if the cart path interferes with your ball’s lie, your stance, or your intended swing area. You can also take relief if your stance touches the path even when your ball is off it.
- Find the nearest point of complete relief (NPCR): Find the exact spot on the course closest to where your ball lies—and no closer to the hole—where the cart path no longer interferes with your lie, stance, or swing. This point might be on the opposite side of the path. Remember it must be the nearest point, not the most convenient or nicest one, meaning it could put you behind a tree.
- Measure your relief area: Mark your NPCR with a tee. Measure a relief area of one club-length (using the longest club in your bag besides your putter) from that marked point, ensuring the area is no closer to the hole.
- Drop the ball: Drop the ball from knee height into the relief area. The ball must land and come to rest within that one club-length relief area without penalty.

We had 5 players this morning so we decided on playing Stableford instead of the advertised Stroke play. The greens were certainly in better condition from last week’s sanding. Overnight rain had resulted in wet starting conditions and we encountered more rain before the turn which made conditions even more challenging. No carts on fairways so we all exceeded our daily step goals. In third place was Serge with 33 points. Ian took second with 35 points and our winner was Brian with 36 points.

What many assumed would be a washout for golf turned out to be a very pleasant day at MaeJo, we were blessed with some amazing weather with the odd spot of drizzle. The course was quite wet in places but those golfers in carts were allowed to enter the fairways at 90′ to protect the wet ground. There were 10 hardy souls that checked in to play a ‘Stableford’ format competition and all groups finished in around 4 hours. In joint 3rd place on 33 ponts was Randy Teisl and Eric George, in 2nd place with 35 points was Roger Bishop but the winner today on 37 points was Jay Windmon The birdie hole #17 remains intact. Well done everyone.

We had 11, 2 foursomes & 1 threesome, today. The threesome finished pretty early meaning it had to wait for the 2 Foursomes to eventually come in thank to a couple of Japanese groups letting us through. The birdie hole went off twice today to Lamyai & Pung, hence Pung showing up in the winners circle. The big hitters went off the whites & yellows today but alas no immediate results to speak of apart from Randy taking out equal third with Donald. See some of you next week again.

Great turn out today, 12 members, one returning member (Gerry), one new member (Teddy) and one guest. Today’s format was NASSAU. The birdie hole (#14) was taken out today by Eric. The front was won with a score of 19 point by Eric. The back was taken out with a score of 19 points by Kay Kay and Rick. The overall winner with 35 points was Randy.

Just wanted to let you all know that I will be stepping down as Friday Captain at Maejo. At the AGM in January you will need to vote in a new captain. I have been the captain for two years. I just need a little break, I am sure I will step back in after a break. If you are a Maejo player, please consider giving back. It is not a hard job, anybody can do it. Our organization is based on volunteering. Please find someone to be your next captain, I would hate to see the Friday event stop for good.
Wrong ball
You must not make a stroke at a wrong ball.
In stroke play:If you make a stroke at a wrong ball, you get the general penalty (two penalty strokes) and must correct the mistake by continuing play with the original ball by playing it as it lies or taking relief under the Rules:
- The stroke made with the wrong ball and any more strokes before the mistake is corrected do not count.
- If you do not correct the mistake before making a stroke to begin another hole or, for the final hole of the round, before returning your scorecard, you are disqualified.

There were 13 attendees today for a Stroke format golf competition, we were very fortunate with the weather today insomuch that there was no rain but it did get a tad warm. The course was in an okay condition considering heavy rain the night before and it did not restrict golf cart access on to the fairways, the greens were playing with no consistency which proved to be a challenge for some. A very warm welcome back to Kuzi who rejoined the family at MaeJo after completing his Australian adventure. There was a 2 way tie for 1st place today; Eric George with a Gross 92, Roger Bishop Gross 98 (Net 73) and in 3rd place was Aom Teisl with a Gross 102 Net 74. The Birdie hole #2 remains intact.

We had 10 members in the competition and we were playing Stableford format. Overcast conditions for most of the round, very hot by the time we finished. Once again the course was very quiet so no delays on the turn. The scoring today wasn’t great maybe partly due to the sanding of some greens. In third place today was Garry on 32 points. KK took the second place with 33 points and our winner was Vikram with 34 points, well done guys.

There were 14 of us today with three equal winners in the shape of Kay Kay Otten, Aom Teisl & Paul Wearmouth, all finishing on 37 points thankyou very much. We had 2 groups of three & 2 groups of 4 making up the 4 groups & surprisingly we all finished about the same times which made account keeping all that much doable. Not very busy today either so with carts allowed on the fairways & the courses in relatively good condition it was a pleasure to play today, apart from the heal draggers in front of us, but so be it. Good the see the Golf Course has seen in its infinite wisdom, to bring the prices down to a more swallowable rate, but apparently it is only for this month, where no doubt they will rise accordingly in October. Good luck to them!!!!!!!!!!!!

We almost had the whole course to ourselves today. A light mist on a couple holes to start us off then it stopped. The green speeds today ran from 4.6 to 8.2, kind of hard to read the greens today. All groups finished in under 4 hours. We had nine players in the comp and one guest. No takers for the birdie hole (#14). Today’s format was Stableford. In third place with 35 points was Aom. In second place with 36 points was Roger. Today’s big winner with a great score of 41 points was Kenny (The birthday boy).
When You Can Play a Provisional Ball
- Lost Outside a Penalty Area: Your shot may be lost in deep rough, bushes, or woods.
- Out of Bounds: Your shot may have landed beyond the course boundary stakes.
- Not in a Penalty Area: You cannot play a provisional ball if the only place your original ball might be lost is inside a penalty area (water hazard).

We had nine players today with eight in the competition. We also welcomed Gavin who joined the society. The course remains in excellent condition and was quieter than normal. The front nine was won by Ian with 18 points and the back nine was won by Lamyai also with 18 points. Our winner today by a large margin was Danie with a fantastic 39 points (net 69), well done.

A really good day today weatherwise, bright sunny and no rain. Today we had 11 players in the competition which was a Nassau format. Some of the greens proved to be a tad tricky today as the dew caused unpredicatable slowness, however the whole course is in good shape. The front 9 was won by Nigel Stubbs with 17 points and the back 9 was taken by Chris Ryan with 20 points, the overal winner was Roger Bishop with 40 points. The birdie hole #2 was taken by Eric George. Well done everyone.
