Match reports for February 2020

North Hill, 28.02.20

There were 24 golfers (23 members & 1 guest) for our Stableford round in very smokey conditions. There was one DNF and 1 not in the competition.  One of our ‘birdie holes’ #10 went off to Mr.Park but the big one #6 is still there.  Another new birdie hole #12 for next week, you got to be in it to win it, so come along and have some fun.  The big winner today was Jack Cooper with 38 points making his mark before his return to the UK in a couple of weeks.  In second place was Mr.Park with 37 points and tied in third place were Chanitapha “Oil” and Leon Smiler with 36 points. Well done to all and welcome back Joe Ritter.

Leon, Jack, Mr.Park,” Oil”

On a sad note we have been advised that one of our earliest members David McCunnall (82) passed away on the 24 February after a battle with Cancer. His funeral will be on Monday the 9th March at 11am (British time) should you wish to pause and reflect.  R.I.P.

Gymkhana, 02.27.20

Once again another fine day at Gymkhana – air not too bad, could be better as we all would like. Numbers were low – only 13 CMSG this morning. Scores were on the low side too, or should I say just a little below normal. The captain, Allan finally got back into the winner’s circle to take first place with 19 points for the front nine holes. His wife Joy, and Ram Taylor tied for second with 18 points. There were a lot of other golfers just a point or two lower but just didn’t make it. Good job to all the golfers for a great day of golfing. Thank You.

Ram. Allan and Joy

Maejo: 26.02.20

A great turn out today with 14 members and 1 guest, once again we had groups off number 1 and 10 to speed things up. Nick Gudewill put in his 3rd card today so shall have his handicap next time. Andy Davies was our guest today all the way from New Zealand, great bloke and we look forward to seeing him again on Monday, he also contributed to our charity. Our winner today with 37 points was Mike Roycroft, 2nd was Alex Stewart with 36 points and in 3rd was Stewart Duncan with 34 points.

We had a fun multiplier today with 11 members playing. Kim Stogner on his own drew a mystery partner at the end of play. It was fun. Nobody took out birdie hole number 2. Second today were Julian Wing and Jack Cooper with 55 points and the winners with 60 points were Aom and Randy Teisl. Well done. End of next month is a two person scramble.

Randy was born in 1960, he turned 60 today and he and Aom scored 60 points – Scarey.

Maejo: 24.02.20

A good turn out today had 12 members all starting off number 1, thanks to no late arrivals we got away slightly early thus avoiding a large group that had turned up and everyone completed there rounds in good time. Welcome back Jack Kuzina who has been enjoying the lovely weather in England and working for the last month. Stuart Duncan took out 1st place with 35 points, we had a 3 way tie for 2nd with John De Jong, Kuzie and Heinz all scoring 33 points

Next week stroke play on 3 and 1.

Another glorious day for golf with coolish conditions to start with and no one even braking a sweat, makes you wonder just how long it can last as i’m sure last year the temp was much higher. 6 members for our rounds today with Mike Roycroft taking out the 1st spot with 37 points followed by Kuzie on 31 points

The Two “Michaels”

North Hill, 14.02.20

There were 24 (23 members & 1 guest) golfers for today’s Stableford round. There was 1 DNF and 1 not in the comp. Birdie Hole #8 went off to Christian Friis and the new birdie hole will be #10.  Of course birdie hole #6 is still up for grabs.  North Hill put on a special for Valentines Day on hole #14 with 4 hearts on the green and anyone lucky enough to be inside one got a hat and a sleeve of balls with Mr.Park being the only beneficiary that I know.  A good day on the course with the weather and the numbers with speed of play.  There were three tied for first place with 36 points and the only prizes given today.  They were Yung Beece, Christian Friis and Jeff Crosthwaite.  There was a bit of a discrepancy but you have all been told to check your scores before handing in your card, most of all make sure if you don’t total y up your raw score that the individual scores are legible, do not overwrite, cross it out and write the score above or below.  Also a reminder that if there is a guest in the group they mark their own card, if your in the competition it must be another CMSG member who marks your card.

Yung & Christian, Jeff not available.

Maejo: 14.02.20

Gymkhana, 13.02.20

Once again a very nice day at Gymkhana 14 CMSG hit the very leafy course this morning which was brought to the attention of one of the board members. Scores were very good. but before we get into that, let me remind everyone that there will be no golf at Gymkhana next week – the 20th, as the golf course has booked a Thai Golf Club 18 hole tournament for that date. So it will be back to normal golf on the 27th of February.  See you are there. Now back to the winners. Christina Tay had a great round and scored 23 points to take first place. Ted Taylor came in a close second with 22 points and Joy Gariano and Ian Carr tied for third with 20 points. Way to go golfers. Sorry the photos, they were taken and were on the camera, and you can ask Mark because he saw them on the Phone, but for some reason they weren’t there when it came to down load them to the web site. Sorry Christina.

Maejo: 12.02.20

12 members for today’s stableford round, conditions were once again fantastic, the greens are now almost in perfect condition, very pleasing indeed. Maejo: 05.02.20

We had 7 members for our stableford round today, for the most part it was a pretty quick round for all with everyone completing there rounds in under 4 hours. There does seem to be a noticeable absence of tour groups lately most likely to the virus going around. Our run away winner today was Mike Roycroft with 39 points, Rob Grootenhuijs, Mark Brightman and Tom Berger all came in with 33 points

Mark, Mike and Rob, absent was Tom
