Match Reports January 2022

Mae Jo, 26.01.2022

7 members and 3 guests today for our stroke round in great golfing weather. Only 3 out of the 7 actually carded the round, in 2nd on net 77 was Ian and todays winner was Kuzie with a net 69. Don’t forget Friday is the 2 man stableford multiplier, should be some very intersting scores in that one. Happy Australia Day to all. Maejo January 26th 2022

Hariphunchai, 26.01.2022

9 players on the course today for our monthly event at Hariphunchai. An excellent course almost empty. If this was slightly nearer Chiang Mai it would be very busy. The honours went to Graham Adams with three birdies in his 39 points. Commiserations to Nigel Stubbs who wiped the last two holes, but still managed 34 points. Third place went to Gordon Langtry with 33. The next event at Hari, will be on Wednesday 16th February. We are told that the cost will be 700 baht green fee, caddie fee and cart, but there will be 100 baht discount to the first 20 people on the day, this is likely to be us, but it cannot be guaranteed. If you are interested in taking part, please email Julian

Maejo 21st January 2022

Some people intending to play today were probably put off by the rain, but 10 stalwart players showed up despite the weather. They were rewarded when the rain stopped 10 minutes before tee-off and then played in perfect conditions throughout the morning with the moist greens holding the approach shots nicely. Nassau was the format of the day with Chris Ryan winning the front nine and Jack Kuzina winning the back nine, both with 21, and the overall winner was Iain Craig with 46 (I promise I didn’t cheat!). There were also a number of players playing to or below their handicaps. Well done everyone and we look forward to seeing you all and others next Friday for the “multiplier’ format – should be interesting.

7 members for todays stableford comp. We had to wait for about 40 minutes past our tee time as the rain was very heavy, once it stoped all steam ahead. In 2nd. place was Graham on 33 points and todays winner was Tom with 37 points, well done guys. As most will be aware, Mondays are not a CMSG day at Mae Jo anymore, however we are still holding our tee times and will do so for those that wish to come and play. See you all on Friday for a Nassau round.

Tom and Graham.

Lanna, 17.01.2022

11 members for today’s stableford on courses 3 and 1. Our first visit to course 3 for a few months and it was certainly in better conditiion than our previous visis. We will continue to play there on the third week of the month for the time being. At long last the bi8rdie hole was taken after probably 25 weeks plus. Even better it was won by the Lanna captain, Nigel Stubbs! There was a three way tie for second between Darrell Podaima, Donald Pierce and Nigel Stubbs on 34 points. Today’s winner was Julian Wing with a great 39 points. Well done all.

Maejo, 14.01.2022

Today saw 13 golfers at Maejo playing a two-man best ball format. The course was in good condition and the greens are coming back, but still a few patchy bits on some of them. It was a good fun day out in beautiful weather and some very good golf by all participants. There was a tie for first place on 49 points by two teams – Kuzie/Ian and Donald/Rob – well done to both teams. Things were a bit disorganised to start with due to the new Friday captain learning the ropes, but he promises that next week things will be even more disorganised!

There were 10 members and one guest in today’s Stableford event.  One DNF and no takers for the birdie hole.  The greens apparently have been cut too short and causing problems for most.  There were three winners tied on 38 points Yung Beece, Leon Smiler and Peter Cheong.  We wish Lamyai the very best after her last game for a few months and a speedy recovery.  Stay Safe.

Noi Taylor came in second with 18 points and a log jam at third was the old captain Al, Joy Gariano, Ram Taylor and Lawrence Nahlik all  with 17 points.. No takers again on the birdie hole. Lanna 1&2, 03.01.2022

Great golfing weather to kick off the New Year. The course was in good condition but the greens were a little tricky, if my miserable putting was anything to go by. 14 Members competed in today’s stroke event and it was gratifying to see a very close competition, with only 4 strokes separating the top 8 places! In second equal were Darrell Podaima and Fernando Soares who both carded net 72, but today’s winner by one stroke on a net 71 was the evergreen, Al Gariano. Well done everybody. Nigel will be back next week to take over once again. Guess who forgot to take a photograph? Lanna 1 & 2 January 3rd 2022

Mae Jo, 03.01.2022

Happy New Year to you all. Only 4 for todays game which was won by Randy on 37 points. Hope to see a few more for our stroke round on Wednesday.

Randy.
