Handicaps updated following the events held on 20th December 2024.
All our handicaps are based on the USGA/R&A 2020 system, (WHS), and are fully compliant with that method. Each tee is individually rated with a course rating and slope rating and therefore any member playing at any course off any tee are in synch to everybody else, no matter which course or tee.
For members who have played at least 20 rounds, your handicap index is calculated on a rolling average of your 8 lowest differentials (8 best rounds) out of your latest 20 rounds. For members that have not yet completed 20 rounds there is a sliding scale as per the USGA/R & A rules of handicapping.
For exceptional rounds where the differential is 10 shots or more better than handicap index (approx 46+ stableford points) a further deduction of 2 shots is deducted from your 19 previous differentials. This essentially reduces your handicap index by a further two shots in addition to the effect on your average of best 8 rounds. For rounds where the score is 7 shots or greater better than your handicap index (approx 43, 44 or 45 stableford points) the exceptional deduction to your last 19 differentials is 1 shot. These deductions comply with the USGA/R & A rules for handicapping.
In addition a “Hard Cap” is in force that does not allow a handicap index to rise by more than 5 shots within a year, and a “Soft Cap” where only 50% of an increase is allowed if a handicap is set to increase between 3 and 5 shots within the year. Again, these caps are described within the USGA/R & A Rules for handicapping under the 2020 system.
