Match Reports from July to September 2015

Mae Jo, 30.09.15

Stableford

26 members posted today at Mae Jo including new member, Kenny Jones. Welcome, Kenny!

It was a little on the warm side but we still managed to get everyone around in just under 4 hours despite Prince Harry’s insistence that we had 27 golfers not 26. Long flight from Manila?

No birdies again on #8 so I have decided to let it ride for October. Come on out for Harry’s 2 Man Net Blind draw and take a crack at the now 1,000 baht pot.

We had a tie for 2nd place today at 36 points and they were: Ken Nalder and Rob Grootenjuis.

Alone in 1st place was Jeff Crosthwaite with 38 points. Jeff got away before I could take today’s photo so his better looking brother stood in for him.

Congrats to the winners!

Lanna, 28.09.15

Another small of golfers at Lanna this morning and maybe because some of the golfers didn’t come out because they thought it was going to be Match Play but it wasn’t because the Captain (me) was to busy this past week to make up a good Match Tournament that everyone might like or at least some of the golfer might like. So it was decided just to play plain old Stableford once more which everyone liked that idea.

Scoring was good. Lennart Larsson came in third with 33 points. But for some reason he ran off before collecting his winning. Hope he come back or the BEER will be on him. Second place went to Gary Lyon with 34 points. First place went to another Gary, Gary Walker with 36 points. Congratulations to our winners.

Next week at Lanna it’ll be our usual first Monday of the month Stroke Play.

MATCH PLAY VS. PAR

32 players including one guest, Terry, came out to Mae Jo today. Lift, clean and place was implemented after the prior evenings showers and 4 players beat Old Man Par but couldn’t manage a birdie on #8 again. Pot will be 900 baht next Wednesday for the month’s last comp. (Stableford).

Tied for 3rd place at +1 were Chris Kendall and in his 1st official comp with us, Soren Nielson.

Coming in 2nd place despite being relegated to the 4th group off #1 was our own Jack Cooper with a stellar +3.

And surprising the field with a strong +4 was young Master Silvan Schwarz.

Well done and congratulations to all in the biggest field of the year thus far! Oh, and a special mention to Pranee Buckley, Dao Beece, Ram & Noi Taylor. Great to see you ladies back with us. You were missed!

Have a great week end, everyone.

****We have adjusted the Handicap Index for Mae Jo reflecting how the holes are actually playing, considering around 1.200 rounds we have recorded since January 2015. Click Score Card Maejo to see the New Handicap Index which are using to record all Scores since 23.09.15.

Mae Jo, 23.09.15

On this Wednesday a total of 25 players turned up for a Stableford competition. Soren placed his 5th Score Card and will enter on Friday his first competition. Scoring was rather on the low side with a 3 way tied for 2nd place between Lennart (Lightning), Richard Brown and John Laidley for 35 points. The outright Winner today was the long missed Ken Nalder with an even Par 36 points. Well done Gentleman.

Richard even threatened to shoot himself (see his own comment on his Score Card below) on hole 16, we are glad he did not.

See you all on Friday for a Match Play vs. Par.

Lanna, 21.09.15

Another small group at Lanna this morning but better than the last few weeks and it can only get better with a few more of our members coming back to Chiang Mai for the winter months. Competition for the day was Stableford Nassau. You know front nine, back nine and overall high points for the 18 holes. Lanna proved that it’s not that easy to score high on it so score was a little on the low side. Gary Lyon’s made it look easy on the front nine with a high of 20 points. Our CMSG’s Chairman Frank Schwarz took the back nine with just 17 points. The overall high points for the 18 holes went to Julian Wing who had high of 34 points. Congratulation to our winners.

Competition at Lanna next week will be Match Play. You’ll just have to come out to see just what Match Play format it will be.

Individual Stroke Play Net

Another strong turnout of 21 members and 1 guest despite the threat and promise of rain throughout today’s round. Lift, clean and place was in effect thru the green in your own fairway but only 3 golfers were able to shoot par or better.

Coming in 3rd place today with an even net round of 72 ( and with a 9 on his card) was Gordon Langtry.

Tying for 1st place with one under 71’s were Jomo MacDermott and Adam Jackson.

Congratulations to today’s winners!

Still no birdie on this month’s designated hole (#8) so that pot will reach 700 baht for next Wednesday’s stableford comp.

  • Also, special congratulations to our own Frank Schwarz for advancing to the next round of the Chang Amateur Tourney in Bangkok after shooting a fine 82 at Doi Inthanon. Well done, Frank!

Have a great week end!

Mae Jo, 16.09.15

We had one of the biggest turn outs in a long time with 26 members and 2 guest playing a regular Stableford format today. The weather was a bit on the warm side since there were almost no clouds. Very untypical for the rainy season. The scoring were for some also on the hot side. Rumor has it that one performs better if one does not go out the night before.

So, the third place was won with 38 points by Iain Craig, second place with 40 points by Adam Jackson and with 41 points and a strike on his last hole our Mae Jo Captain Mike Pattavina took the first place.

Well done gentleman. We hope to see a good turn up also on Friday for the Individual Stroke Net.

Lanna, 14.09.15

A small but hardy group of CMSG where out at Lanna this morning for a nice round of golf. The course was a little wet from the over night rain but the morning weather was great for golfing . Gordon Langtry and Gary Lyon both came in with 28 points but Gordon won out on count back to take third place. Barry Ochitwa came in second with 32 points. Peter Brown took first place with a very good round of 38 points. Congratulation to our winners.

Stableford Nassau will be the competition for next Monday at Lanna.

Mae Jo, 11.09.15

Today we had 17 members coming out for a Stableford Nassau competition. As expected the number was a bit lower since we had just yesterday a competition. Lennart could not continue the great form he displayed at Inthanon. It seems that Mae Jo was playing more difficult today because the scoring was more on the low side. The front 9 Holes were won by Stuart Duncan with 18 points. The back took Frank with 19 points and the overall was taken by Craig Morriss with a blistering total Stableford points of 35. Again today there were no Birdie recorded on Hole # 8, so the Birdie pool is growing.

We wish everyone a great weekend, go to the driving range get the fixes and see you all again next Wednesday for a Stableford competition.

Lanna & Mae Jo shootout, 10.09.15

The idea for a friendly competition between the Lanna and Mae Jo sections of Chiang Mai Social Golfers was first raised at the last AGM and Terry Redding and Don Bishop rose to the challenge and organized the first “shootout” between the two groups. Inthanon was chosen as the venue due to the good deal arranged (1200 Baht including cart, green fee, caddy and lunch) and the friendly staff who made the organization so easy. Thanks to Inthanon – the food was superb and the course in great order. Thanks also for being able to start off 4 different tees allowing all 8 foursomes to finish within minutes of each other.

After arrival and registration the draw was held for the teams. It was a great achievement that all 32 players turned up on time. Thanks also to our emergency Suranee Livingstone who did not make a team but played anyway. The draw was a bit if a shambles but was completed reasonably quickly with names being drawn out of a hat for both teams. The course was not busy and we were able to tee off before the designated time of 8.30.

The scoring system was the combined Stableford scores of the pairs from each side. Again there was some chaos as the scores were entered but all in good fun. The final results are shown in the photo below. Closest to the pin winners were Michael Kuzmich and Barry Ochitwa (bad luck Silvan who almost won ). Kuzie also featured in the shortest drive category since he along with Mike Dalton failed to pass the ladies tee. The highest scoring pair was and Frank Schwarz and Lennart Larsson with 73 points followed by Allan Gariano and Christian Friis with 71. The highest individual score was Allan Gariano with 42. A special prize for the lowest Stableford was won by Ric Cameron. The prize of a hat band modelled with prominent protruding female breasts will have to be worn by Ric at all future CMSG events for the next month.

The provision of draft Leo by Don ensured that everybody left is high spirits and enjoyed the day. The objective of fostering camaraderie between the often separate sections of CMSG was achieved. Here’s hoping the Shootout can become an annual event.

STABLEFORD

19 members, including Pranee Buckley, came our for today’s pre Lanna-Mae Jo challenge warm up under mostly warm sunny skies. We have missed you, Pranee. Don’t stay way so long next time.

And even with her first time back in some time Pranee tied for 3rd place with Jack Kuzina with 34 points. Well done.

In 2nd place alone with 35 points was Frank Schwarz and taking today’s comp. with a stellar 39 points was Rob Grootenjuis. 3 Jacks and a Jill today.

Congratulations to our winners and give em hell in the Shootout tomorrow at Inthanon.

Oh and #8 withstood another day of not being birdied so the pot will reach a respectable 500 baht for Friday’s Stableford Nassau.

Hope to see you there and does anyone know where Frank’s and Adam’s keys are?

Cheers!

LANNA, 07.09.15

Another small group of golfers at Lanna this morning. But that okay not everyone likes stroke play let a lone course number 3 at Lanna. Don’t know why it’s nicer than the other two courses at Lanna. Since the group was small we’ll keep this short too. We had a three way try at the top of the leader board, between Peter Brown, Keith freeman and Ralph Hamilton all coming in with a net 73. Doing the Lanna count back, Peter came in first leaving Keith to take second and Ralph alone in third. Congratulation to our winners.

What no photos?  Will the battery in the camera was dead and no matter what we did to it, it wouldn’t come back to life. O will better luck next week and talking about next week it’ll be back to Stableford Competition so see you there.

Mae Jo, 04.09.15

TWO MAN BEST BALL NET

25 members, 1 guest and brand new member, John Laidley, showed up yesterday at Mae Jo for a little warm up for next week’s Lanna-Mae Jo shootout @ Inthanon. Teams were formed by blind draw prior to tee off and some power packed teams emerged from the draw. Of the 13 teams formed, 10 of them posted net par or better scores and the second best was the team of Anton Buijs and Graham Adams with a net 65. Well done!

However, blowing the field away (and I don’t mean lawn blowing) was the juggernaut pairing of Dennis Byrne and Bartho Posthma with a net 59!!

The post round audit of their card passed muster and results are now official!! That swing in a can that Dennis utilizes was working O.T. !!!

Congratulations to all of yesterday’s winners and again no one made 3 on #8 so the prize grows yet again.

Cheers!

STABLEFORD NASSAU

24 former and current Lawn Blowers came out to Mae Jo yesterday to give golf another try and wouldn’t you know it, there were some pretty decent scores posted. Another day, another dollar(baht).

We had a tie for the back nine with 22 points and those two characters were Jeff (Sparty) Crosthwaite and our own Prince Harry Nieuwland.

The front nine went to Anton Bujiis with 21 points who also tied for the overall at 39 points, therefore, it was decided to award equal prize money to Anton and the other top dog, Adam Jackson.

Congratulations to the winners! FYI, the first day of the new birdie hole (#8) went unclaimed. Come on out Friday for our 2 man best ball net blind draw which will prepare those participating in the Lanna-Mae Jo shootout next week.

And at the risk of overseas repercussions, we would like to welcome longtime CMSG member, Gordon Langtry, back to the fold after his nearly 6 month stay in Vancouver minding the store!

Lanna, 31.08.15

Another small group of golfers totaling 12 and 4 were ladies too. Were at Lanna this morning for the three clubs plus putter in the bag format competition. It was good to see the ladies at Lanna for we always enjoy having them play golf with us and the three clubs didn’t bother them ether. All I can say is if you  golfers can’t show up because of the format, than maybe you need to give up the game of golf and take up Lawn Blowing. That game is all ways the same it doesn’t change from one day to the next.

Okay enough!  7  out of the 12 golfers had points in the 30’s,  not bad at all. We had a try for second place,  Barry Ochitwa and Joy Gariano both came in with 35 points. Sorry to say and you know why Barry won out on count back to take second place leaving Joy to take third. First place went to Lawrence  to test your Nahlik with a total of 36 points. Congratulation to out winners.

Next week it’ll be stroke competition on the 3 & 1 courses at Lanna, so come on out if your not afraid to test your skills at stroke  play.

STABLEFORD

24 members and 2 guests came out to Mae Jo and under partly cloudy skies and despite a couple of crossover issues with our friends from other Asian regions, we completed our rounds in just about 4 hours.

It was a big day for Lennart Larsen as he not only won today’s comp. with 40 points, he birdied #18 using his now famous driver-5 wood-driver combination! Well done, Lightning!!!It took the entire month to get it done but it finally happened so the birdie hole will be changed to #8 for September and a new pool begins!

Taking 2nd place was Jeff (Sparty) Crosthwaite and taking 3rd place with 36 points was Richard(Brownie) Brown.

Congratulations to all and thanks to Lennart for round beers at the Caddie Shack with his winnings.

Have a great week end and see you next Wednesday.

INDIVIDUAL STROKE PLAY NET

26 members showed up for Wednesday’s competition and only one person broke par. In addition, the birdie pool went unclaimed again. The pot will be 1600 baht this Friday for the last Comp of August (Stableford) so come on out. I personally witnessed 3 legit attempts at a 3 on #18 but all were close but no cigar!

Tied for 3rd place were Diane Mayo and Adam Jackson with net 73’s. Finishing in 2nd alone with an even par 72 was the venerable Jack Kuzina.

First place went to Craig Morriss with a one under net 71. Well done, Craig!

We would also like to take this opportunity to wish long time member, Jim Hopkins, a speedy recovery from his recent back injury and a safe & comfortable trip back to the U.S. ( Florida) where he is squaring away his son at college in the Orlando area. See you in October, Jim!

See you Friday for the August finale!

Lanna, 24.08.15

The numbers of golfers were very low at Lanna this Monday morning and maybe it was because people don’t like playing with just three clubs in their bag. If they looked at the CMSG web site more they would have seen the correction changing it back to the correct schedule to just Stableford competition.  As it was only 2 golfers out of 9 played with three clubs in bag. Now next Monday it will be three clubs plus putter in the bag. So don’t let the number of clubs in your bag scare you away from having a fun game of golf.

Now back to the results.

Scoring wasn’t all that good ether. Don’t know why since the courses was in very good shape  and the weather was nice too.  Mr. H. who by the way only had three clubs in his bag came in third with 29 points.  Second went to Barry O. with just 32 points.  With a high of 36 points Peter Brown took first place. Congratulation to the winners.

STABLEFORD NASSAU

18 members and 1 guest, John, showed up for today’s play eclipsing Wednesday’s hardy Boys turnout by double. Royal was in excellent condition for this comp. and the good scoring reflected it although #18 remained birdie less. It was suggested that if #18 cannot be conquered in August then it will stand as birdie hole for September as well. The pot will be 1500 baht next Wednesday so come on out to Mae Jo. We’ll see!

Taking the front nine today was Anton Bujiis with 20 points and winning the back nine with a very impressive 23 points was Diane Mayo.

1st place overall went to CMSG president, Frank Schwarz, with a fine round of 40 points.

Congratulations to our 3 winners!

Have a great week end and see you back at Mae Jo next Wednesday, regular time.

Stableford

9 hardy souls came out today to our recent home away from home as the Ladies Asian tour was holding court at Mae Jo this week. Conditions were a bit moist and lift, clean and place in your own closely-mown areas was in place for today’s comp.

Again, no one birdied #18 at Royal either so the prize reaches a new high each round. Maybe it will survive August. We’ll see!

Tying for 1st place in our 3 group 3 ball was Adam Jackson and yours’ truly with 38 points.

Honorable mention but out of the prize money due to the short field was our own secretary/treasurer, Rob Grootenjuis.

Come on out Friday to Royal for a stableford nassau comp. Worth the extra 15 minutes @ 1200 baht.

Lanna, 17.08.15

14 CMSG were on hand this morning at Lanna to compete in a friendly  round of Stableford Nassau competition. The weather was great even if the scoring wasn’t for most of the golfers. The front nine was taken by Lawrence Nahlik with 21 points. The back nine had to be decided by countback with Peter Brown and Haydn Patterson both coming in 21 points. Haydn won out to take the back nine. The total overall for the 18 holes was Ralph Hamilton with a good score of 37 points. Congratulation to the winners

Correction for next week at Lanna it’ll be Stableford not three clubs in the bag.

2 Man best ball Stableford

Damn! It was a hot one on Friday for a 2 man best ball Stableford format. Got to get you guys used to team comp with the First Annual Lanna Larrikans- Mae Jo Jokers shootout less than a month away. Larrikans? WTF?

Anyway, 20 players, including Kevin Gies, who posted his 5th card, braved the hot muggy conditions and wouldn’t you know it the Dennis Byrne hot streak continues as he and Lennart ( Lightning ) Larsen blew the field away with 46 points.

Tying for a distant 2nd with 40 points were the teams of Ric Cameron and Jimmy Catterson and Adam Jackson and Michael Kuzmich.

Again, no birdies made on #18 so the poT continues to grow. Come on out to our new 2nd home @ Royal Chiang Mai and see if their #18 is gettable!

Stableford Nassau

20 players came out for Wednesday’s nassau comp. Again, no one has birdied #18 so the pot swells to 1200 baht.

Winning the front nine was our president, Frank Schwarz, with a modest 17 points. The post Singha Chiang Mai Open rough was still taking it’s toll on some.

Winning the back nine with an even 18 points was Adam Jackson.

And taking the overall and seemingly imune to the tough conditions was Dennis Byrne with a commendable 42 points.

Congratulations to all 3 winners!

On what turned out to be a very nice day at Lanna for Stroke Competition, 16 CMSG took part to see how will their stroke play would hold up on the 3 & 1 courses. As it was some of the golfers had good rounds. Ashley Kim who keeps telling us he’s leaving but keeps showing up on Monday mornings at Lanna took third place with a net 78 after a gross of 95. Haydn Patterson took second with a gross of 108 which netted him a net 74. The best round of the day was turned in by Keith Freeman with a gross of 90 that netted him a net 66. Congratulation to our winners.

Next week at Lanna it’ll be Stableford Nassa.

STABLEFORD

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend as I finally get to Friday’s match report. Our 2nd visit to Royal Chiang Mai found 19 members making the extra 20 minute drive this week to play.

In fact, it was reported that Jack Cooper shot 57 off the stick. Unfortunately it was through 11 holes. What up, Jack???

Of the eighteen members who completed play, no one managed birdie on #18 again and so the prize continues to grow to a record amount. Come on out to Mae Jo on the 12th ( 6:30 start) and see if you can claim the prize there.

Tying for 3rd place with 33 points were Silvan Schwarz and Dennis Byrne. ( Welcome back, Dennis and Silvan). Taking 2nd alone with 35 points was Frank Schwarz.

Fresh off a 12 under performance at the Singha Chiang Mai Open Pro Am on Wednesday was Adam Jackson with 36 points good for 1st place.

Apologies to the winners as no photo was taken. Must have been the humidity or being distracted by our concern for Jack’s well being.

See you Wednesday @ home Mae Jo.

Cheers!

STABLEFORD

15 players came out to Royal Chiang Mai as the pros and assorted amateurs from CMSG played in the Singha Chiang Maim Open @ Mae Jo. Remember we are at Royal again on Friday as Mae Jo continues to host this event thru week’s end.

Straight Stableford was the day’s format and taking her 1st competition was Diane Mayo with 35 points on a damp and long Royal course.

Finishing in 2nd place today was David Rickard with 32 points. Welcome back David!!

No birdies on this month’s designated birdie hole #18 so that prize reaches 4 figures!!!

We will be playing Royal under lift clean and place conditions on Friday as well so see you there!

Cheers!

Lanna, 03.08.15

Another cool and somewhat wet morning but good for golfing 18 CMSG headed out at Lanna. Play was a little shower than normal because of some northern islanders out ahead of our group. But we all manage more or less to get in before a little rain started to fall. Scoring was on the low side, maybe because of the low clouds. We had three golfers, Keith Freeman,  Ashley Kim and Terry Redding all coming in with just 30 points to try for third. Once again Keith won out on count back to take third. Doing a little better was Gary Walker to take second with 32 points and with just one points better than that at 33 points was Berry Ochitwa to take first place. Congratulation to our winners.

Next week at Lanna we’ll be back on 3 & 1 courses for some stroke competition.

2 MAN BEST BALL NET

Despite the wet weather and long rough, 21 members came out for today’s team competition. And even with lift, clean and place, this captain thought that the scoring that took place couldn’t possibly happen but it did!

Taking 2nd place with a 9 under 63 was the team of Adam Jackson and Michael (Kuzie) Kuzmich.

Bettering them by one stroke with a 10 under 62 was the dynamic duo of Robert Green and Lennart Larsen. They shot 27 on the back nine reportedly due to Lennart switching back to his putter and retiring the driver/putter. Well done guys.

No birdies again on #12 so the prize carries over to August when a new designated hole will be named. Stay tuned.

Have a great week end and see some of you at Royal Chiang Mai on Wednesday and Friday. See weekly events calender.

17 members came out today for a the last stableford comp. for July despite the threatening skies. After a short shower at 7:45 the weather cleared up and cool comfortable conditions prevailed. Again, no one has birdied #12 since Kuzie’s eagle 3 weeks ago. One more chance left this Friday so come on out for a 2 man team event (Teams paired on arrival with cards).

Scoring was below average today even with lift, clean and place through the greens. Tying for 2nd place with 34 points were Diane Mayo and Rob Grootenhuijs. Taking 1st place with 36 points was Jeff Crosthwaite. LOCK UP YOUR DAUGHTERS IF YOU SEE THIS MAN COMING!

See you Friday and be advised that we will be playing at ROYAL CHIANG MAI next Wednesday and Friday due to the Singha Chiang Mai Open being held at MAE JO. TIMES TBA SOON!

On a very went morning at Lanna 15 hardy CMSG’s headed out to prove that a little rain can’t stop real golfers from their round of golf. As it was the scoring was on the damp side too for most golfers but for a few a little rain didn’t stop them from having. a good round of golf. Since the competition for the day was Stableford Nassau, the front nine went to Keith Freeman with 19 points. With just 17 points Lawrence Nahlik took the back nine. The overall points for the round went to Haydn Patterson with a total of 36 points. Congratulation to the winners.

We said goodbye to Ashley Kim Sing who will be leaving us this week to head back to work. Have a safe trip and we’ll see you when you get back.

Stubby’s Stableford

We had a beautiful day on Friday for this event which was attended by 23 members. In fact, 10 members posted scores of 36 points or better in this increasingly popular format. What a great way to improve one’s course management skills than by taking the majority of your clubs out of your bag.

No birdies were made on #12 so that prize will grow for this Wednesday’s Stableford comp.

Friday’s winners were as follows: Finishing in 3rd place with a strong showing of 40 points, Jomo MacDermott. Taking second place and carrying only 3 clubs ( including his driver/putter ) was Lennart Larsen with 42 points. And lapping the field with 46 points and 5 clubs was the event’s namesake, Nigel Stubbs!

Congrats to the winners and see you all Wednesday.

** We are working on sites for next week as Mae Jo will be closed 3-8 to 7-8 for the Pro tourney they are hosting. Stay tuned for details.** Royal on the 7th and perhaps Highlands on the 5th.

In spite of the weather 12 players showed up for a round of Stableford Nassau. At 7:15 it was still raining but when we headed out from the first tee, the rain stopt and we had a pretty dry round with hardly any little drizzle on the first few holes.

We had 11 players in the comp and Clint was there again as Steve Metcalfe’s guest. Tied for the first place came Calvin Davis and Jeff Crosswaithe with both 36 points. Jeff won the competition on the count back. The front was won by Calvin with 25 points and Adam Jackson won the back nine with 20 points.

Jeff walked home before the money was handed out so for the wager we had to turn things around a bit winning Calvin the overall, Steve Metcalfe the first nine and Adam the back. Calvin ( thanks )  gave his 300 baht for the birdie box, so there is 500 in right now!!!

Friday w’ll have Stubby’s Stableford. One stroke added for each club removed except for Lennart because he get two strokes for removing his driver if captain Pattavina agrees of course!!

On another good day for golfing a small group of CMSG (12) headed out on the Lanna golf Course for a round of Stableford Competition. In spite of some very slow golfers out ahead of our groups we all made it in before the rain came and boy did it come down for just a short time as usual. Scoring was good once more, having a try at 35 points between Lennart Larsson and Peter Hadden (Smiley). After a double count back Smiley was still Smiling for he took second place leaving Lennart to take third. Our first place winner had a great round of golf coming in with 40 points was Terry Redding. Congratulation to the winners.

Since we did play Stableford Nassa this Monday we’ll be playing it next Monday.

After yesterdays Away  game at Green Valley we had a pretty good turn out with 22 players of which 20 were in the comp. Clint was here as a guest again and Chriss submitted his 4th scorecard. The weather was almost perfect with a covered sky and a temperature of about 30 C, but still a bit humid.

Richard Brown came in third with 32 Stableford points, Lennart second  with 35 and the winner Nigel Stubbs with 37 points, well done guys !!

PLEASE : After putting out, leave the green immediately and put the scores in at the next tee-box !!

From 3-9 August the Maejo course  will be closed. At the 12th there is shotgun at 12:00 but we can play if we start at 6:30! From 19-21 August we have to start early as well. The committee will look at some alternatives. See you all next week and enjoy your weekend!!

Away game July 2015.

Today we had our July Away Game on Green Valley. The turn out was 27 players with Jose Aerts still playing for her handicap. So we ended up with 26 players competing for the honour and the money.

The weather was nice with a covered sky and a breeze, but the last group coming in had to stop playing because of a rain shower. They could finish there round after half an hour.

In third place came Julian Wing with 34 Stableford points, tied for second were Adam Jackson and Ashley Kim Sing with both 35 points. The winners of the competition and the money were Anton Buijs and Darrell Pinney with 36 points, well done gentleman!!

Our President Frank had to leave early to pick up his son from the airport. He will be back  in August. Enjoy your time with the family, Frank!!

The Format today was a 2 man best ball stableford competition with the team selected by the acting Captain. We had 21 Members and therefore Harry was playing out side the comp. We had also 4 new members playing to establish their handicaps. Scoring results were pretty close to each other, so job well done with the pairings Harry.

A two way tie for third with 43 points was the team of Yung Beece & AdamJackson as well as Jef Crostwhaite & Richard Brown. With 44 points in second place was Graham Adams & Joe Albright. Today overall Winner are Michael Kuzmich & Christian Friis (who had a late start, maybe it pays off to sleep a bit longer).

There you have it, we are looking forward to see you tomorrow for our monthly Away Game at Green Valley and for another Stableford competition on Friday at Mae Jo.

Once again Ashley Kim Sing was on top with a very nice 52 to take first place. Congratulation to the winners. 28 Players with 22 members, 3 new members and 3 guests we tied up on Hole # 1 and Hole # 10 on time. We started off with a nice overcast a one of the nicest temperature since quiet some time. But after only 4 holes the Sun started to bear down on us and it was getting very warm and Humid. The Scoring was better than on Wednesday (less pressure because of the Stableford format??) and we had a 2 way tie for third with 37 points between Adam Jackson and Graham Adams, in 2nd place (we believe this is because he has no more pressure) with 38 points Jack Kuzina. Todays Winner with 39 Stableford points is Stuart Duncan. Congratulation to all Winners and for everyone to come out and enjoy a round of Golf among friends in a relaxed atmosphere.

See you all back on Wednesday for a 2 man best ball Stableford (teams will be assigned by Harry). If there is anyone else who is interested to join us at Green Valley next Thursday (16.07) please send us a mail or call.

Today we had a total of 21 players, 17 members one new member, Welcome Chris Kendall and 2 guests playing a Net Stroke format. The Scoring was on the high side even with a nice overcast but it shows that the temperature is not a huge factor in the players performance. We can blame the speed greens and maybe they will be even more speedy on Friday in preparation for he Saturday’s Singh Tournament. Tied for 3rd place with a total of 75 Strokes net was Jeff Crostwhaite, Jack Cooper and Jack Kuzina. With a total of 74 net alone in 2nd was Lennart Larsson. The overall Winner with a total of 73 net was Yung Beece.

Congratulation to all Winners and we see you on Friday for a Stableford competition.

Lanna, 06.07.15

With over cast sky’s at Lanna 16 CMSG headed out for a fun game of three club plus putter Stablford golf. Most find it fun and I little different too only because they didn’t have a full bag off clubs to choose from for the different shots that come up in the game of golf. Scoring was good even with only four clubs. JJ Walker and Keith Freeman both came in with 34 points for third but JJ won out on count back to take third. Peter Hadden ( Smiley ) with bad back and all took second with 36 points.  Just to show everyone that it doesn’t matter how manly clubs are in the bag you can still score high. Coming in with 39 points was Ashley Kim Sing to take first. Congratulations to our winners

Next week at Lanna it’ll be strike 3 Stroke Play on the 3 & 1 courses.

Stableford

We had 24 members brave a most muggy and hot morning Friday at Mae Jo. Diane Mayo posted her 5th card and will be eligible for competition next week. Soren Nielson and new member, Curtis Nickel, also posted cards towards handicap establishment with CMSG.

No birdies again on #12 so the prize will grow for Wednesday’s Individual net comp.

Finishing in 3rd was Nigel Stubbs with a very respectable 35 points. A far cry from his performance last Wednesday! Ouch!

Taking 2nd place was Julian Wing with 36 points. See, Julian, you can break 30 points at Mae Jo. Well done.

And another single digit boy did a 180 degree turn around with 38 points to win the comp. Adam Jackson, who thought after Wednesday’s 1st round back from his world travels was going to relegate himself to the fishing holes instead of golf holes.

Congratulations to our winners and I will see you on the 22nd. I probably leave you in better hands!

Cheers.

Stableford Nassau

19 members and 1 guest came out to Mae Jo yesterday for the above referenced comp. My apologies for the tardy posting but upon returning to my condo yesterday, I come to find out that my internet was cut off during my time in San Sai the last 40 days. Oh well, amazing Thailand strikes again!

#12 held off everyone as the lone designated birdie hole for July so the prize continues to grow for this Friday’s stableford comp.

So without further ado, tying for front nine honors with 19 points were Jack Kuzina and Yung Beece.

Winning the back nine alone with 21 points was Jim Hopkins and blowing the field away for the overall with 44 points and 74 off the stick was Jeff Crosthwaite. Well done!!

Congratulations to all and hope to see you on Friday for my last round before turning the reigns back to Frank & Harry!
