Inthanon, 30.08.17
An overcast day made for pleasant playing conditions for the 6 CMSG members who turned up today. Barry O had a good run of form today.
Mae Jo, 30.08.17
Only 10 players for todays stroke event in very wet under foot conditions. In 2nd. place was Jack on net 76 and in 1st. place on net 75 was Andy. Well done to our winners. Friday will be stableford as usuall, hope to see a few more people then.
Lanna, 28.08.17
Only 7 members and 1 guest at Lanna today. Conditions were very sticky and the fairways had plenty of casual water so scoring wasn’t up to the usual standard and there was still no winner for the Birdie Hole. Keith Freeman and Kim Stogner tied for first place with 32 points each. Next Monday should be the usual Stroke play around 3+1 unless they decide to core the greens on course 3 on that day. Booking clerk was asleep so I couldn’t ask.
North Hill, 28.08.17
4 members for todays game. Ian Fraser came first on 38 with Camilla Dwyer a close second on 37.
Mae Jo, 28.08.17
Only 9 members for todays game. We had a tie for 1st. on 36 points were Jack and Ronny. Well done to our winners. Wednesday will be stroke and hope to see a lot more players.
Gassan Khuntan, 25.08.17 (August Away Match)
Today we had (8) foursome teams all arriving on schedule at Gassan Khuntan to compete in a team scramble. We started today’s match off the #1 and #10 tee boxes with those teams that started off the back nine holes completing their respective rounds faster than those starting off the front nine. The reason for the slight delay was that a foursome teed-off prior to our start and with our groups completing in a scramble easily caught up to this group subsequently somewhat delaying our matches. On a brighter note we all completed our rounds under cloudy but rain less conditions. In addition to these good weather conditions the majority of the players commented that they never saw the course in such great condition.
The following are the results of this team event:
1st Place ended in a tie with a net score of 54.8 (Gross 66) being posted by:
The team of Jim Hopkins, Joe Albright, Iain Craig & Dennis Byrne
&
The team of Keith Freeman, Ralph Hamilton, Darrell Pinney & Ashley Kim Sing
2nd Place with a net score of 55.5 (Gross 64) goes to the team of:
Peter Hadden, Kenny Jones, Gary Cooke & Leon Smiler
Hats off to today’s winning teams – well done!
We look forward to our members participating in our next away game scheduled at Inthanon on Wednesday,
September 20, 2017 (stableford format).
North Hill, 25.08.17
Today there were 9 Members in the competition and one visitor Dave “Robbo”who came to say farewell before he returns to Australia. A fine but overcast day with high humidity kept the scoring low on a damp course after all the rain yesterday and drizzle last night we had lift clean and place on all fairways. Three members tied for first place with 34 points: Nigel Stubbs, Camilla Dwyer and Tayakorn Saenjuy. Well done to all who participated in todays Stableford Event.
Inthanon, 23.08.17
North Hill, 21.08.17
7 members today for a mostly pleasant round. We were fortunate in only experiencing rain on 3 holes. First place on 37 goes to Camilla Dwyer with Milton Reynolds coming in a close second on 36.
Lanna, 21.08.17
Well done to the 16 members who came to play at Lanna today, especially since the weather has been a bit inclement lately and was threatening to continue as such. Of course it poured with rain on and off for the whole round but nobody gave up or moaned. Today Lanna Course 1 was closed (but only for 2 days) so unusually we played Courses 2+3 and it made a nice change.
Because of the conditions scoring was on the low side, and there was a 4-way tie for 3rd place so it was agreed to donate some extra to our charity and only recognise 2nd place Garry Walker with 35 points and winner Lawrence Nahlik with 37. Please check the schedule for future events that might be a bit different to our usual format.
North Hill, 18.08.17
There were 20 members in todays Stableford round. A few light showers interrupted play in the middle of the event which made conditions extremely humid on the back nine when the sun came out. No takers for the birdie hole on 15 again. The winner today was Roger Mack playing to handicap with 36 points, tied in 2nd place were Camilla Dwyer and Yung Beece with 35 points and tied in 3rd place were Garry Walker and Ashley Kim Sing with 34 points. Have only booked a few groups next week as most will be playing in the away scramble on Friday.
Royal Chiang Mai, 18.08.17
Only 9 players today in stickey conditions. The greens were not in good shape and the rough was rough. In 2nd on 35 points was Frank and our winner today was Adam with 37 points. Congrats to those 2 people. The next game at Mae Jo will be on Monday the 28 th. of August. Have a good weekend. Sorry no photo.
Inthanon, 16.08.17
Great bunch of 12 CMSG members at Inthanon today. Stableford results for handicapping purposes below.
North Hill, 14.08.17
Only 4 members today for a very pleasant round. Ian Fraser came first on 35.
Lanna, 14.08.17
Only 7 members today so a Nassau round was not possible and we played straight Stroke on 1+2 for a change. It seems that the busy season is having a revival with plenty of golf tourists teeing off at 6am so it’s good that we have got our booking times in for the next few months. The course was a little sodden and the water hazards were bursting above the markers in some cases but it was a good day anyway with no holdups.
Nigel Stubbs came in 2nd place with a Net=82, but Allan Gariano performed extremely well to take 1st place with Net=74. Next week is the usual Stableford event.
Mae Jo, 14.08.17
13 members played in very slow conditions today. In 3rd was Ric on 32 points in 2nd. on 37 points was Jim and our winner today was Ronny on 38 points. Well done to our winners. Friday we will be playing at Royal Chiang Mai due to the course closure, if you wish to play please let us know by Wednesday 16th. The tee time will be at 9am at this stage. So be there no later than 8.30. Our next game at Mae Jo will be Monday the 28th. of this month.
North Hill, 11.08.17
Only 8 happy souls turned up today, probably because most are playing in the NH members tournament tomorrow. No takers for the birdie hole again but Yung swears he has it’s measure going close again. The winner today on a nearly empty course was Camilla Dwyer with 36 points and three runners up with 32 points, Soren, Brian and Keith. I have booked a couple of extra groups for next week knowing that Maejo is closed but would appreciate a heads up for any extras considering trying their hand on the NH course.
Mae Jo, 11.08.17
18 members for todays round of stableford in wet under foot conditions. We again had a tie for second on 37 points were Frank and Graham and our winner today was Jan on 41 points. Well done people. Monday will be our last game at Mae Jo untill the 28th August because of the all Thailand golf competions. If anyone is interested in playing Royal Chiang Mai on Friday the 18th. please let us know by Wednesday the 16th. Have a good weekend and see you all again on Monday for a stableford round.
Inthanon, 09.08.17
Today 13 members graced the baron fields of Inthanon Golf Club for a very enjoyable round of golf. The only disappointment was that the overall winner was Smiley who managed to blitz around the course like a pro for a change. Scores according to CMSG handicaps can be seen below.
Mae Jo, 09.08.17
16 members and 1 guest for todays 2 man combined stableford event. In 2nd place on 64 points was Kuzie and Kenny and our winners today on 68 points was Jack and Jack. Well done to our winners. See you all again on Friday for our regular stableford event. Some sad news today as we heard that Gino passed away. Our sympathy to his family and friends.
Lanna, 07.08.17
Nice little turnout today for the Lanna 3+1 event which today was Stableford for a change – 10 members and the guest Aussie that Allan invited to join last week. Conditions were good and the course presented well so there were some good scores. Yukio and I were busy congratulating ourselves for getting 36 points each when in come Leon with 38 and Nigel with 41. What does one have to do to win these days?
Nice to see Shannon back, but it’s farewell to Yukio for a couple of months and likewise to Gary Lyon who will be away for 1 month. See the rest of you all next week for a ‘Stroke Nassau’ round on 1+2 although the format might change if there are only a few people.
Mae Jo, 07.08.17
14 members and 1 guest for todays stableford nassau round. We had a tie for the front on 19 points was Andy and Adam the back was won by Jack also on 19 points and the overall winner was Frank on 40 points, well done guys. Wednesday will be a 2 ball combined round. Hope to see you all then.
North Hill, 07.08.17
Only 4 members today. Curtis and Camilla tied for first on 32.
Mae Jo, 04.08.17
17 members for todays stableford comp. Again we had a tie for 2nd. on 34 points was Bob and Julian and our winner today was Barry on 38 points. Well done to todays winners. See you all again on Monday for a stableford nassau comp.
North Hill, 04.08.17
There were 13 members for today’s Stableford Nassau. Apparently two players just missed out on the birdie hole so it continues for another week. The front nine winner today was Brian Heuston with 21 points and the back nine winner was Leon Smiler with 19 points but the overall winner was Denise Reynolds with 41 points.
Some confusion with the Thai Ladies Pro tournament now being played at Maejo (apparently cheaper accommodation) so, our Friday game is back on and I have booked for four groups realizing that with our NH Members tournament still on for Saturday that some of our regulars will skip the Friday game. But I will turn up so hope to see some of you Next Friday and/or Saturday.
Inthanon, 02.08.17
Just 4 members and guest turned up for a round under pleasant conditions. The format was Strike 3 stroke play with handicaps cut by 75% and the worst 3 hole scores eliminated.
Darryl was the eventual winner with a net 53 strokes.
Mae Jo, 02.08.17
We had 15 members for todays round again in very steamy conditions. There was a 3 way tie for 2nd. on 34 points were Adam, Kuzie and Ronny but todays winner was Jan on 35 points. Well done guys. Joop we hope your back improves. See you all on Friday for our usual stableford round.
