The International will be played at Highlands on Tuesday 13th May – 9.00 a.m. tee off
As there is likely to be 30-40 members trying to sign in at the same time, please allow extra time to sign in. We suggest at least 45 minutes beforehand.
The price 1600 baht for green fee, caddy and cart
The competition will consist of a 4 person scramble.
Members may nominate teams provided the team consists of all 4 members from the same country.
If you want to play but cannot make up a team of 4 from your country then please also submit your name to the Committee. When all entries are in, the Committee will construct teams by allocating players who are nearest geographically to each other. For example New Zealanders, may be paired with Australians, Canadians with Americans and so forth. All teams allocated by the Committee will be eligible for the Trophy. To ensure that everyone can enter there is likely to be a “world” team for the members where it is difficult to pair members geographically. So please submit your name even though you cannot make up a team.
Please submit names of individuals or nominated teams to Julian – email address julianjameswing@outlook.com
If you do not know other members from your country then please contact any member of the Committee as they have access to the nationalities of our members.
Rules of the Competition
-
-
- It is a stroke play event
- In previous years all teams played from the red tees which took a bit out of the game for many members, therefore, we have changed the format slightly this year. Six holes will be played from the white tee, 6 holes will be played from the yellow tee and 6 holes will be played from the red tee. The Committee will decide which holes are played from which tee and cards indicating the required tee will be provided.
- Teams consist of 4 players and the team handicap will be 1/8 of the combined handicap of the 4 players, using the yellow tee for handicap purposes.
- Each team must nominate a captain who has the final decision on everything. If no captain is agreed on by the team, then the Committee will recognise the lowest handicap player as the captain.
- Each member of the team has to have a minimum of 3 drives each (not including par 3s) and whoever’s drive is used must be marked on the scorecard. If any member of the team does not have 3 drives, then that team will be disqualified, so pick the drives that you use carefully!
- The way it works – At each individual hole look at the card to see which tee you must play from. All 4 players drive at each hole. The captain selects which drive to use and then the three players whose ball is not being used, pick their balls up. The ball selected is marked and all 4 players then play from that spot. Players can play in any order, the player who’s ball was selected, does not have to go first. Once again, the captain selects which ball is the best and all 4 players play from that spot and so on until the ball is holed.
- If the ball marked is on the fairway or the surrounds of the green then the team may “place” their balls within 6 inches of the mark. If the marked ball is in the rough, the semi rough or a hazard then the balls must be “dropped” within 6 inches.
- The score that counts is the score when the first ball is holed. Therefore, be careful when putting. If the first member hits the ball to a few inches, then go up and mark it! If you tap it in, that is the score that will count and you have denied the other team members a chance of holing it for one shot less.
- 3 person teams can compete if one member drops out or if we cannot make up numbers. In this case the team handicap will be 1/6 of the combined handicap and each member must get in 4 drives (not including par 3s)
