North Hill, 28.04.17

There were 16 golfers today for our regular stableford event. Hot as usual for this time of year, or guess  I should say Humid with just a threat of rain.  The birthday boy Brian Heuston took out the “birdie hole” #16   and congratulations and best wishes go out to him. The winners today were Camilla Dwyer with 36 points and tied for second were Denise Reynolds and Keith Freeman on 33 points.  Next week being the first game for the month will be Stableford Nassau, look forward to seeing you all.

Denise, Keith, Camilla, Brian.

Mae Jo, 28.04.17

We had some of the best golf I have seen today from our group of 20 players, of which 9 shot to their handicap or better. In 3rd.  place on 41 points was Nigel in 2nd. was Joop on 42 points and our winner today was Alex who shot 43 points. Well done to todays winners, all your handicaps will reflect your good scores for next weeks events. Mondays game will be stroke. Have a good weekend and see you then.

Nigel (crying)Alex and Joop.

28.04.2017 – Stableford Maejo

Mae Jo, 26.04.17

21 members and 3 guests  for todays round of stableford nassau. There were some very good scores overall. On the front it was a 4 way tie between Stuart,Tom,John and Steve all on 20 points the back was won by Nigel on 21 points and the overall winner was Keith on 42 points. 15 of our players broke 30 today with one 37 and two 38’s. Good golfing people ! Lets hope the hot weather doesn’t keep too many people away on Friday. Well done to todays winners. Stableford Friday, see you then.

Tom,Stuart,Keith,John,Steve and Nigel.

Inthanon, 26.04.17

Big turnout for Inthanon today with 14 members participating in a Stableford event.  The course was in good condition and only Soren and Barry were able to take advantage coming first and second with 42 and 41 points respectively.  Next closest were Ralph Hamilton on 34 and a bunch of 4 players all on 33.

Speed of play has become somewhat of an issue everywhere and it doesn’t help when as usual we had the course to ourselves resulting in players not feeling any pressure to maintain a decent pace.

Soren & Barry

North Hill, 24.04.17

Today we had a small group of 7 players. Milton Reynolds was the winner on 33 and Camilla Dyer and Leon Smiler were equal second on 31.
The course is in very good condition. Hopefully more players will join us next week.

Camilla & Milton

Lanna, 24.04.17

Another small group of 9 members plus 1 guest today at Lanna 1+2 where the conditions were dry and a bit hard. It was a reasonably quick round for the 3 groups and scoring was mostly in the 30’s. Runner-up today was Lennart Larsson with 36 points, only just pipped at the post by Lawrence Nahlik with 37 points.

By popular (?) demand next weeks’ match on courses 3+1 will be a “Stroke” event.

Lawrence & Lennart

Mae Jo, 24.04.17

3 four balls for our round today. Scoring was a lot lower than Friday, in 3 rd. place on 34 points was Bob and a 2 way tie for 1st. between Kenny and Steve. Well done to todays winners. Stableford Nassau is our event for Wednesday, see you all then.

Steve, Kenny and Bob.

North Hill, 21.04.17

Today there were 14 members taking part in a Stableford event.  All arrived early and a random draw at  8am saw two three balls and two four balls hit off prior to our scheduled 8:30 tee off.  The course greens have settled down very nicely after coring and sanding and it was nice to see all the maintenance staff out about the course keeping it in tip top shape, currently sanding the tee boxes.

The birdie hole on #16 once again eluded one and all, in fact only two birdies were achieved today out of all who took part in the days proceedings and that was by our newest member on his first outing with a CMSG handicap and is todays winner Milton Reynolds who came in with 35 points.  The runners up were Yung Beece and Lawrence Nahlick both tied on 34 points.

Just a reminder about slow play.  Our last group today had lagged three holes behind the group in front and this is not acceptable.  If you are more than one hole behind you are expected to call other golfers through.  All members of the groupings should be alert that they never fall behind by more than one hole.  It is hot out there and it is also frustrating if you have to continually wait on the group in front.  Clear the greens quickly and update your score cards off the green.

By popular vote from next month we intend to play a Stableford Nassau first Friday of each month.

Milton

Mae Jo, 21.04.17

A good turn out for todays stableford event, 18 members attended. There were some quite good scores posted so if you didn’t break your handicap you had no chance to be on the podium. In 3rd. place was Stuart on 38 points in 2nd. was Kenny on 39 but our clear winner today was Jim with 41 points. I hope you enjoy your new handicap Jim. Well done to todays winners. Have a good weekend and see you all on Monday.

Kenny, Jim and Stuart.

Gassan Legacy, 20.04.17

We had (14) members and (1) guest playing a Stableford match for our April 2017 away match at Gassan Legacy.  Everyone showed up early so we were able to move our scheduled tee time up to 8:30 am from the 9:00 AM original starting time.

Most of the players thought the course was in excellent condition seeing that the greens were cored just 10 days ago.  Also the pace of play was good as the course was virtually empty so most completed their respective round in 4 hours + with the 1st 3-ball going off first completed their round in just under 3 hours.  Relative to the weather we teed off under clear blue skies that remained for most of our round with the temperatures raising as we progressed thru our round.  Lastly, most of today’s players commented that they did not remember how much the water came into play resulting in numerous lost balls being eaten up by all the water hazards.

The following are the results of today’s away match:

1st Place:         Ans Scholten                                36 Stableford Points

2nd Place:      being shared by Tayakorn Saenjuy and Jack Kuzina both posting a score of 35 Points

3rd Place:      Lennart Larsson                            34 Points

Hats off to today’s winners and we look forward to seeing everyone next month on May 25th for our scheduled away game at Highlands.

Again the photographer took a leave of absence!

Inthanon, 19.04.17

Just 5 CMSG members turned up and the course was in good condition. As usual there were very few golfers on the course.  A Skins game was settled upon as the format for the day and the front 9 was a tussle between Ashley and Ralph.  Ashley was the eventual winner with  a total of 8 Skins.  The pin position on the 18th hole was in a tricky position again but as the green was slower than last bit all balls were rolling back down towards the golfer.

Ashley

Mae Jo, 19.04.17

This Wednesday we had (18) members and (2) guests participating in a “Stroke” competition format at Maejo.  Most if not everyone showed up on schedule resulting in an orderly and on-time tee off.  Today Julian Wing invited (2) of our committee members (Gary Walker & Keith Freeman) and also Ian Jenson for his annual birthday celebration. It was nice to see Gary and Keith enjoying the Maejo links that have improved greatly after the recent coring of the greens.

Relative to the results we had some good scores posted:

1st Place    Gross 92   Net 70      Joop Schillemans

2nd Place  a Tie being shared by Ted Taylor (Gross 95) and Bob Sheldrick (Gross 106) both posting a net score of                            Net 71

3rd Place     Gross 78  Net 72    Nigel Stubbs

Hats off to all of today’s winners!

Sorry No Photo today

North Hill, 17.04.1

Today at North Hill we had five members, plus two new members, Denise and Milton completing their final card. Todays winner with an excellent 40 points was Ralph Hamilton and a close second was Leon Smiler with 37 points, with a few hiccups on the final 4 holes. The Birdie hole jackpots.
The weather today was a little inclement however the great condition of the course meant there was no impact on play as indicated by the winning scores.
The heavy rain held off until we were all inside enjoying a delicious meal and a few drinks.
The rain should have a positive impact on the course and we are looking forward to playing again next week with hopefully a few more members.

Ralph Hamilton

Lanna, 17.04.17

Frightened of the rain? Only 7 members and 1 guest ventured out to Lanna today, but once the clouds had lifted we had ideal conditions for a 4-hour round.

Scoring was pretty good with Nigel Stubbs being Runner-Up on 35 points and Lawrence Nahlik winning with 38 points. Tom Berger took out the Birdie Hole #8. Hopefully see a few more members next week for another Stableford round on Courses 1+2.

Nigel, Lawrence, & Tom

Mae Jo, 17.04.17

North Hill, 14.04.17

Fifteen Golfers turned up with Milton & Denise joining the CMSG today and submitting their 4th cards for handicap leaving 13 to to compete for the prizes. No one managed to take out the new birdie hole on #16. The greens have settled down very nicely after their coring and sanding although you couldn’t tell from the scoring on the day.

The winner today was Camilla Dwyer with 34 points, Terry Yuill came in second with 32 points and Brian Heuston in third with 31 points.  Being Song Kran a few turned out in very colorful shirts and the course and restaurant were quite busy.

14.04.2017 – Stableford Maejo

Inthanon, 12.04.17

Eleven members turned out with the course in good shape and green fairways.  Overall winner on 34 points was Ashley with Lennart second on 31. Once again the pin placement on the 18th hole was in a same position as 2 weeks ago and that resulted in no one making par and the hole playing 3.2 strokes over its par.

Ashley & Lennart

12.04.2017 – Stableford Inthanon

Mae Jo, 12.04.17

This Wednesday we had (11) golfers battling the heat at Maejo for a Stableford competition.  Everyone completed thier respective round in (4) hours and less.  As usual for this time of the year we had the course to our-self.

Relative to the Winners Jay Jay Walker took 3rd place honors with (31) points and in 2nd place was Nigel Stubbs with (34) points.

Today’s big winner alone in 1st place with (37) points was Adam “The Ace” Jackson.  “The Ace” standing for his Hole-in-One today on the 2nd hole.  This was the Aces third hole in one over his illustrious golfing career.  Hats off to all of today’s winners with special congratulations to Adam.

10.04.2017 – Stableford North Hill

Lanna, 10.04.17

Today at Lanna there were 13 members and 1 guest wanting to do their best golf on a hard and dry course. Still a lot of leaves around but not many golfers so the 4 groups had quick under-4-hour rounds.

Gary Lyon played well and came third with 36 points, and David Urlwin-Smith had another good round to come in second with 38 points. But the outstanding round of the day went to Joy Gariano who managed a faultless 42 points and will see her handicap index plummet by 3.

Next weeks’ game falls on a Songkran day so hope to see as many members as possible. Our usual restaurant will be closed so we intend to convene after the game in the Hole-In-One restaurant above the Driving Range.

Gary, Joy, & David

North Hill, 07.04.17

Today we had 18 golfers present 16 members and two prospective new members Milton and Denise putting in their second cards for handicap.  Necessary course maintenance had been carried out with the greens having been cored and sanded and this made putting more difficult than usual.  The winners today were Terry Yuill and Ian Fraser with 36 points, runner-up was Camilla Dwyer and third was Smiley.   Well done to those who completed the course with all its difficulties in the heat and we will see some of you on Monday and yes we will still play on Friday during Song Kran but I have only booked for three groups.

Lanna 03.04.17

Only 11 members today wanting to try their luck in Stroke play (Courses 3+1) at Lanna. Conditions were pretty good and the course was very dry, but there were still too many leaves for those of us who can’t keep balls on the fairways. Anyway, it was a reasonably quick 4-hour round on an otherwise empty course.

Today’s Runner-up was Tom Berger with a Net 73, but JJ Walker stole the show with Net 71.

A few members will be playing Courses 1+2 on Wednesday this week (same time, same price), so please let me know if interested.
