Match reports for April 2019

Maejo: 29.04.19

12 members and 1 guest turned up for today’s stableford round, there was a slight breeze at times which helped a little, but otherwise was just hot. There was a small army all around the course packing things up after last weeks tournament, its amazing just how much work goes into staging a big competition. Some of us went and watched the final days play and got treated to lunch and beers in the VIP area with a grandstand view of the 18th fairway and green.   To the results, in 1st place with 40 points was Serge Arnaud, 2nd on 35 points was Stuart Duncan and 3rd with 34 points was Mike Roycroft

Mike and Serge, missing was Stuart as i had to bolt to an appointment

North Hill, 26.04.19

There were 18 members in todays Stableford event and one New Member submitting his first card for handicap, welcome Phillip “John” Nielsen from Norway.  No takers for the birdie hole #11 today and very few birdies in the group and yes it was hot out there.  Also slow as we had some late starting groups in front of us even though we got some groups off ten and fifteen.  Some holes have been cored and not yet sanded still a work in progress, we were warned.  The winner today was El’Presidente Milton Reynolds with 41 points and tied in second place were Nigel Stubbs & Garry Walker with 36 points.  Well done to one and all.

North Hill, 19.04.19

There were 21 members and one guest today with three not in the Stableford Competition.  So hot, no relief, good to get into the clubhouse.  The winner today was Yung Beece with 40 points, in second were Lawrence Nahlik with 39 points but not in the comp, so Jack Cooper takes it with 36 points, coming in third place was Milton Reynolds with 35 points.  Soren missed a ‘hole in one’ by a thumb nail apparently and Yung could have had his best 9 holes ever except he missed a birdie on the 9th, still 26 points on the front nine is pretty good, so commiserations to them and Lawrence not in the comp with his 39 points. Well done to the winners on the day and to the rest for finishing in the heat. See you all again on Friday.

*******REMEMBER – NO GOLF AT NORTH HILL ON MONDAY 22 April – STAFF DAY********

SAWADEE PEE MAI – HAPPY THAI NEW YEAR TO ALL

There were 16 members for today’s Stableford round, all going off the front for a change.  Lovely greetings from management and staff, Thank You.  Some good scores in on a rather hot day but thankfully it didn’t get to the predicted 41c only made it to 39c.  Nigel Stubbs took out the birdie hole #13 so next week it will be #11, well done Nigel.  The winner today was William “Bill” Whitsett with 39 points, in second place was Roger Mack with 38 points and in third place was Christian Friis with 37 points and scoring an Eagle on hole #7.  Welcome back from their Oz holiday to Milton & Denise supposedly suffering a bit of jet lag and a shock at our polluted air.

North Hill, 08.04.19

There were 11 members in today’s Stableford event on a relatively empty course, certainly good for us.  It was obviously a Family Day as the winners were Serge Arnaud & Lamyai Prasern with 36 points each and Mr.Park just out of the prizes with 35 points.  Well done to all in the current heat and bad air, although it is improving.  No doubt the numbers in the upcoming rounds on Friday & Monday may be down due to the popular “Pissheads” competition, but bookings have still been made for CMSG at North Hill.

NOTICE: After discussion today it has been decided that Mondays at North Hill will have “Captains Choice” on the first and third weeks beginning in May.  That is, the ‘match of the day’ will be decided  depending on numbers and or handicaps of those in attendance and could be Skins, best ball, Match Play or whatever combination works on the day.

++++Serge & Lamyai++++

Maejo: 08.04.19

Only 8 members for today’s stableford round. It certainly is warming up and even the sun was out today although at times a nice breeze came and helped cool things down a bit. Our winners today are, in 1st place with a great score of 40 points was Rob Grootenhuijs, 2nd on 36 points was Robert Green and coming in 3rd with 34 points was Mike Roycroft.

On Friday there will be a tee off time of 8.00 am for those who wish to play there own game, otherwise for those playing in the Pissheads competion the tee off time is 9.00 am. We are expecting approximately 40 players and will have groups off 1 and 10 so expect a long and fun filled day. We have arranged a special price of $1250 bht, green and caddie fee so make sure when you pay they are aware of this price

Mike, Rob and Bob

There were 26 members and 1 guest in today’s Stableford Nassau competition on a relatively busy course although they allowed us to go off both front & back tees.  No takers for birdie hole #13 once again.  The overall winner was Soren Neilson with 41 points apparently following on from his 43 points at Inthanon on Wednesday (hmmm … scorecard??).  Winner of front nine was Gary Cooke with 23 points and the back nine was a four way tie (after Soren that is) on 17 points, between Mr.You, Andrew Aston, Roger Mack and Lamyai Prasern.  The manager informs me that work will begin coring and sanding the greens this week and the long awaited NH Members comp will be at the end of this month or early next month. Thank You for your attendance and see you all again soon.
