There were 17 golfers, 16 members and one guest, for todays Stableford round.  Most finished in 3+ hours with the exception of the guest group taking almost 5 hours, but they say they had a fantastic time which was nice, but almost no one remained behind in the clubhouse to socialize with them.  Winner on the day was Don Bishop with 38 points who had to leave to organize a bowls group.  Runners-up were Yung Beece and Leon Smiler with 34 points.  No takers for the birdie hole #3 yet again.  Very hot and humid out there, make sure you keep up the intake of fluids.

North Hill, 16.04.18

There were 8 members for todays Stableford Round and we went off a wee bit early to get out in front of Don’s Pissheads group teeing off behind us.  The greens are now in the process of being rolled after the coring and should be completed this week.  Stinking bloody hot and humid and no relief in sight unfortunately.  The winner of todays round was Camilla Dwyer with 38 points, in second place was Leon Smiler with 36 points and tied in third but not in the prizes was Denise Reynolds and Mr. Park with 34 points.  Well done to the survivors of the Songkran festivities and see you all again on Friday as things get slowly back to normal for us all.

North Hill, 13.04.18

There were 16 members present for the Black Friday 4 club event and after all the scores were in I am not  really sure it makes much difference if you have 4 or 14 clubs in the bag.  Hot and Humid all round and it was very refreshing with the staff greeting us in traditional Songkran style after 9 & 18 with the ceremonial dousing of cold scented water (brrr).  The winner today was Roger Mack with 38 points, runner-up was Milton Reynolds with 35 points and in third place was Yung Beece with 32 points.  Understandably there were no takers for the long par 4 birdie hole #3 seeing as everyone left their drivers out of the bag today.  Happy Thai New Year to one and all, be careful and stay safe.

Milton, Roger, Yung

Mae Jo, 13.04.18

09.04.2018 – Stableford Maejo

North Hill, 9.4.18

9 Members and two guests with only 7 in the competition, obviously a stroke event is not everyones favourite but worth a try.  Course has been nicely cleaned up after the big storm and the greens have been cut and are nearing their pre coring best, should be all back to normal this Friday for our 4 club event.  The winner of today’s Stroke event was Brian Heuston with a net 73, however not being in for the prizes it goes to second place Milton Reynolds with a net 74 and in third was Camilla Dwyer with net 79.  Just a reminder regarding slow play, if your group falls behind the group in front by more than one hole you are obliged to call the group behind through.  Today we only had 3 groups but the second group came in an hour behind the first group and obviously held up the last group needlessly.  You can complain to the captain at the end of the round but it is better to deal with it on the course, all the people in the slow group are responsible to ensure course etiquette is followed during the round.

Camilla, Brian, Milton

Lanna, 9.4.18

15 members today on a very quiet Lanna on courses 1 and 2. The green tining is still apparent making for bumpy and slow greens, this clearly did not affect some of our members. A new award was introduced today. No prize just the cudos. This goes to a player who had five points in one hole, nine points in two holes and twelve points in three holes, but only finished with 19! Well done Kim Stogner. The birdie hole fell on week one to Victor Schneeweiss. As for the main resuk\lts playing to your handicap was a complete waste of time! In third with 40 points was Julian Wing, in second on 42 was Barry Ralston, but todays runaway winner was John Orlebeck with an amazing 47 points! Congratulations to all. See you next week for a stableford on courses 3 and 1.

Julian, John and Barry

Monday golf as usuall at Mae Jo. Have a good weekend and see you all on Monday.

North Hill, 06.04.18

17 members and 2 guests at todays Stableford Nassau.  Hot and Humid after last nights storm, mini cyclone really, with trees down all over the place in the estate and on the course, I found my solar panels two houses away and Brian’s garage roof collapsed.  As for the golf,  Mr Park was todays winner with 39 points, front nine was won by Denise Reynolds with 20 points (Happy Birthday Denise) and back nine was shared between Milton and Victor with 19 points each.  See some of you again on Monday and more of you again next Friday and don’t forget that it is a four club event on Friday, putter plus 3 clubs only in your bag, should be fun on this course.

Mr. Park

North Hill, 02.04.18

There were 10 members and one guest (welcome Les Mackay) at today’s Stableford Event in very humid conditions.  After last weeks coring and sanding of the greens most had settled down nicely with a bit of grass growth, still bumpy and slower than usual, no doubt by Friday all will be back to normal.  The winner today was Milton Reynolds with 41 points, in second place was Don Bishop with 39 points and in third place but out of the prizes was Denise Reynolds with 37 points.  During discussion after the game it was decided to have a stroke event on the second Monday of each month.  See you Friday for the Nassau event.

Denise, Milton, Don

Lanna, 02.04.18

17 players for today’s strokeplay event on courses 3 and 1, welcome to new members Serge and Lamyai who were putting in handicap cards. Course 1 greens had been hollow tyned at the end of last week and not cut, affecting some of the second nine scores. Congratulations to Allan Gariano on taking the birdie hole. Tied for third on nett 73 were Mark Morris and Paul Diminarco. In 2nd was Jay Jones on nett 69 but today’s runaway winner was Lawrence ‘on a roll’ Nahlik with a great nett 65. He couldn’t hide his disappointment when he was informed that today’s event would not get him an invite to The Masters! Congratulations all. Next week stableford on courses 1 and 2. For information the price at Lanna for the next two months on all days is 1050 baht, to include green fee, caddy fee and cart.

Julian ‘gardening shorts’ Wing.

Mark, Lawrence and Jay.
