Mae Jo, 29.10.18

12 members played on Monday in a stableford round. The results are a follows; 3rd place went to Stuart on 35  in 2nd was Craig on 38 and the winner was Randy on 39 points. Well done to the winners. No photo as I was not there.

North Hill, 29.10.18

There were 10 golfers for todays stableford round, 8 members in the comp and 2 guests.  The winner today was Russell Banks with 35 points and the runner-up was Milton Reynolds with 34 points.  The only comments today were about how hot it was, but mainly by the visitors who despite this had a good round.  But it was apparent that there were a few sore heads around following Soren’s birthday party.

+++Milton & Russell+++

Mae Jo, 26.10.18

I was in Laos for the pissheads so the only thing I can say is there were 5 members in the comp. today. Thus no photo as well.

Lanna, 29,10.18

15 members and 1 prospective new member, Tim Walker, for today’s stableford on courses 1 and 2. The course was very quiet and we had a virtually free run in pleasant conditions. The bridie hole carries over to hole 1 on course 3 for next weeks strokeplay event. High season prices start next week, 850 baht walking or 1,450 baht with cart. In 3rd today was Bill Whitsett with 33 points, sharing first place were Ted (the white) Taylor and Nigel Stubbs with 34 points. Congratulations all.

Apologies for the photo, Australian took it!!!

Ted, Nigel and Bill.

North Hill, 26.10.18

There were 21 golfers today, 20 members and one ex member, Mr B returned from Denmark but going back home tomorrow a short visit to buy property apparently.  One DNF after 9 holes today.  there were no takers for the birdie hole #6.  The course was busy but our longest group were 4.5 hours.  Some good scores with Nigel bettering his course record with 41 points and taking top honours,  in second place was Curtiis Nickel with 38 points and tied in third place were Mr.Park and Roger Mack with 37 points.  Well done to all.  Just a reminder to all that check in is at least 30mins before tee-off time and also that polo shirts are required dress, not round neck shirts.  Next Friday at 6pm there is once again a chipping contest on the 9th green with prizes and food stalls.

Mr.Park, Curtis, Roger, Nigel.

Haripunchai, 24.10.18

7 players turned up today expecting some rain, but we had a rain free round in good conditions, very little water on the course which is remarkable with the amount of rain. The winner today was Mr Park with 36 points and second was Nigel Stubbs with 33 points.

2018 Annual Tournament, 19.10.18 North Hills

We completed the 4th and final round of the 2018 Annual Tournament with (35) members and (1) guest.  Similar to the past legs everyone showed up on schedule resulting in an orderly and earlier tee-off.

Relative to the weather it was on the hot side without any cooling off breezes but luckily most groups completed their respective round under (4) hours.  As usual for North Hills the greens were fast and the overall conditions of the course excellent.

This 4th leg produced some good scores as listed below:

1st Place with 39 Points Dao Beece

We had a 3-way tie for 2nd place with (35) points each being shared by the following:

Graham, John, & Lawrence

Special Prize Closest to the Beer Box donated by North Hills Golf Course

Adam winner of the Beer Box

Closest to the Pin Winners:

All modeling their new Golf Hats that were donated by North Hill Golf course

Denise,  Graham, Adam, & Gary

In closing we look forward to seeing everyone at the “2018 Awards Dinner” being held at the Imperial Ping Hotel on November 3, 2018 with a starting time of 6:00 pm

2018 Annual Tournament, 17.10.18 Arititaya (Gold Canyon)

For the 3rd leg of our 2018 annual tournament we had 41 members all show up on schedule for a most orderly start. This legs start was basically a partial shot gun order from tee box 1 thru to tee box 6.  None of our members had any problems on when to start for at 9:00 the course staff lit off a high explosive bang initiating the shot gun start.

Today the weather was mostly sunny as we played under very hot conditions with very little light breezes as we were in, as the course name states, a Canyon.  For reference most of the group thought the course was in excellent conditions coupled with some of the greens being difficult to read at times.

Relative to the winners it appears that the 3rd leg was on comprised only of females as the ladies captured all the prizes.

The order of finish is as follows:

  • First Place:     Diane Mayo            40 stableford points
  • 2nd Place:      Prajat Bacchi          39 points
  • 3rd Place:       Shared by Chanitapha (Oil) Laechoe, Pranee Buckley, & Jum Jim Walker  – 38 points
  • 4th Place:       Shared by Noi Taylor and Jay Jones – 37 points

Congratulations goes out to all of today’s winners- Well Played!!

We apologize for some confusion in announcing today’s winners as the totals were inadvertently entered in error.  Possibly, members should verify their results, and if not asking too much, be more legible when putting down the scores prior to submitting their final score cards!

In conclusion it was another great day on the links followed by some light refreshments afterwords.

We look forward to seeing our members compete for the last leg of our tournament at North Hills this coming Friday October 19, 2018.

Khun Oil, Diane, Khun Noi, Khun Prajat & Jay

North Hill, 15.10.18

There were 8 members in today’s Stableford round.  Very hot conditions.  The winner was Leon Smiler, who is back on the white tees again, with 33 points and three birdies I might add.  In second place was Denise Reynolds with 32 points and two birdies.  Well done all.

+++ Leon & Denise +++

Lanna 15.10.18

An empty Lanna course 3 and 1 for today’s stableford. The first group completed in under three hours, where the second group went, who knows!!! The birdie hole remains intact for next weeks event on courses 1 and 2, hole 10. Some better scoring today on a much drier course. In third was Nigel Stubbs on 35 points. Second was Keith Freeman on 36 pooints, but today’s winner was Peter Brown with 37 points. Congratulations all.

Nigel, Peter and Keith

Mae Jo, 15.10.18

North Hill, 12.10.18

There were 8 golfers at the course today for a stableford event.  Seven members and 1 guest, welcome back to Graham Best who had a marvelous day on the course with 46 points even though he had not played it since it was  a 9 hole mezzanine course.  Anyway the result for the day for the members was the winner being Brian Heuston just back from his Aussie trip back home coming in with with 36 points and the runner-up was Jayjay Walker with 32 Points.  We did have one DNF. No problems for us but there were a lot of people on the course and in the restaurant today an obvious sign that the high season has begun in earnest.  The manager has stated that for the month of November only, anyone returning to Chiang Mai via airplane and seated on the left hand side of the plane and snapping a photo of the North Hill Golf Course and presenting the said photo to the club will be awarded a NH golf cap.

                                                                                Jayjay & Brian

This Friday at Royal we had (45) players all arriving on time for a earlier than scheduled tee-off time.  After some heavy rains the days before our match today we played under partly sunny skies with a few slight breezes to help cool things down a bit.  The general consensus was that the fairways and the greens for the most part were in good condition but 80-90% of all the bunkers were full of water.

Regardless we all ( at least the majority) had another good day on the links.

Relative to the results please not the following:

Closest to the Pin:

  • Hole 3- Barry Ralston  (2 feet 4 inches) Yes he made a birdie!
  • Hole 6- Randy Teisl  (9 feet 6 inches) No he did not make the birdie!
  • Hole 11-Jack Cooper (1 feet 2 inches) Yes he made a birdie!
  • Hole 17-Jack Kuzina ( 7 feet 1 inch) No he did not make a birdie!

Stableford Results:

  • 4-way tie for 1st place with (39) points
    • Jack Kuzina
    • Jack Cooper
    • Randy Teisl
    • Ashley Kim Sing

Randy, Jack K, Ashley. & Jack C

Hats off to all of the Above Winners:

We look forward to seeing everyone next Wednesday October 17th at Arititaya for the 3rd leg of our 2018 Annual Tournament.

Mae Jo 10.10.18

11 members played our stableford nassau round today in warmish conditions. The rain started just as we finished but it didn’t last long. Taking out the front was Mike on 18 points the back was won by Kuzie on 19 pointa and todays overall winner was Adam with 37 points. Kuzie had a hole in one on the 2nd. hole. Well done to todays winners. We still have tee times at Mae Jo on Friday for those who are not playing in the annual at Royal.

Mike, Adam and Kuzie.

Haripunchai, 10.10.18

Wonderful results at Haripunchai today. Nigel Stubbs was first with 27 points, Milton Reynolds second with 24 points and Denise Reynolds third with 23 points. The reason for this is that there was 3 players today. Wind and rain came up in the second nine holes. Never mind we put it down to annual tournament and our handicaps possibly going out, but unintentional by all three.

Denise, Nigel and Milton

Annual Tournament @ Lanna, 08.10.18

Today at Lanna we kicked off the first leg of the 2018 CMSG Annual tournament. We had (51) members all teeing off the 1st tee box on schedule as the result of most of the membership arriving on time for this orderly start.  Relative to the weather we played under clear skies with some intermittent clouds and light breezes, although at times on the hot side, it could be classified as ideal conditions for playing a round of  golf.  The pace of play was good considering the size of our group as we all completed our respective round in (4) hours +/- a few minutes.

Concerning the results we had some extremely good scores posted as noted by the following:

  • 1st Place: We had a tie with (44) stableford points being shared by Noi Taylor and Barry Ralston

  • 2nd Place: Goes to Ian Carr with (40) stableford points

  • 3rd Place: Was won by Chanitapha (Oil) with (39) points

Congratulations goes out to the today’s winners for posting these impressive scores!

Today’s winners:  Oil, Barry, Noi, & Ian

We look forward to seeing everyone at the 2nd leg of our tournament scheduled a Royal Chiang Mai golf resort on Friday October 12th  with a starting tee-off time of 9:00 am. As previously reported, the awards for this leg of the tournament will be handed out at the “19th Hole Restaurant” located off route 121 in Sansai.  This restaurant is approximately a 20-25 minute drive from the golf course and is basically on the home route for the majority of our players.  For reference a map will be provided prior to the start of Friday’s round.

As announced  today at Lanna  the order of play at Royal CM will be based on high handicap first!

Please note that at Royal Chiang Mai we will be teeing off from both Tee Box 1 and Tee Box 10.  Based on this  we will have (7) groups teeing off on Tee Box 1 and (6) groups going off of 10.  This will shorten the wait substantially as compared to Lanna as we all had to tee off #1

Also be advised that due to teeing off by handicap order ( highest first ) you may be paired with the same members that you played with at Lanna!

In closing, we request that all players show up at least (30) minutes prior to the 9:00 am scheduled tee-off time!

Lanna, 01.10.18

24 members today for a strokeplay event on courses 3 and 1. A very slow back nine as we followed a V.I.P.  group. Welcome back to Paul Deminico and Joe Ritter. Congratulations to Soren Neilsen who won the birdie hole after several weeks. If you have yet to enter  the annual tournament please email Jack Kuzina a.s.a.p. Some good scoring today, tied for third were Milton Reynolds and Allan Gariano. In second was Jack Cooper with a nett 70, but today’s overall winner was Denise Reynolds with a nett 68. Congratulations on your handicap cut before the tournament 555. Well done all.

Jack, Milton, Denise, Soren and Allan.

North Hill, 01.10.18

Only 5 members for today’s STROKE round and I can tell you it is not a popular format at North Hill, lots of lost balls and one out of the comp for not finishing one hole.  A good point was made not to have our stroke event on the same day as other courses for those who do not like stroke events and in future I will try to comply with that request if we ever play it again.  The winner today was Russell Banks Net 76 and the runner=up was Garry Walker Net 84. Next Monday is the Annual comp at Lanna but a few not playing in the comp will be playing at North Hill so yes there is a booking.

______ Russell_______
