There were 23 members and 2 guests at todays Stableford round.  Lawrence Nahlik had a group out for his birthday deal, Happy Birthday Lawrence and enjoy your skiing in Japan.  Once again there were no takers for the birdie holes on #17 & #6.  Congratulations to Gary Cooke getting an eagle on #12.  The winner today was Frank Schwarz with 40 points for his last round for about two months, happy holidays Frank.  Runner-up was Gary Cooke with 37 points with that eagle, Wow, and in third place was Garry Walker with 36 points and it’s  my last round until the 11 January so I would like to wish all Chiangmai Golfers a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Note: Any disputes on the course are to be dealt with by the group concerned, on the day, on the course.  We are, supposedly one and all, considered to be mature adults.  If it remains unresolved then it is to be reported to the captain immediately after the round.  If that is unsatisfactory to one or all then it will be passed on to the committee for resolution.  Any deviation from this procedure will not be considered.

Hariphunchai, 19.12.18

Today we had (40) members making up (20) 2-man teams for a scramble low net format.  Everyone arrived on time resulting in a earlier than scheduled tee-off.  Based on the large number of players coupled with Hariphunchai being a 9-hole course we had a shot-gun start from Holes 1 thru 5.

Again as the norm for Hariphunchai the course was in excellent conditions starting from the tee boxes onto the the fairways and finishing with some relatively fast greens.  Weather wise it was another ideal day to be on the links.

It should be noted that except for the (4) teams going starting on Hole 5 the pace of play was on the slow side for some unknown reasons.  Possibly a scramble format contributes to slower play but today some groups had to wait on every hole.

The following table list’s today results with some exceptional good scores:

Standings Team Gross HDCP Net
1st Place Bill Whitsett & Tim Walker 71 8.25 62.75
2nd Place Paul DeMinico & Jomo Mac Dermott 78 10.25 67.75
3rd Place Curtis Nickel & Gary Cooke 77 8.25 68.75
4th Place Denise Reynolds & Milton 79 10 69
5th Place Mr. Park & Brian Hueston 76 6.75 69.25

The Happy Winners!

In closing, and based on the attendance it appears that “Scrambles” draw the largest numbers for our scheduled monthly away games.  Based on this possibly we will schedule more “Scrambles” in 2019.

On  more positive closing note please mark your calendar to attend the 2019 AGM meeting at Gymkhana on Thursday January 10, 2019
