North Hill, 27.05.19

There were 10 members at today’s Stableford event.  As stated in previous reports there was high humidity with light breezes later in the round on a relatively empty course early on in the morning.  The winner today was Don Bishop with 33 points proving he is still capable of completing 18 holes in fine style.  The runner-up was Russell Banks with 32 points.  A big thank you to Jeff Crosthwaite for sharing his 1000baht voucher win from the Members Tournament in Mix after the round as he is heading back to the US very soon.  Well done everybody and see you all again on Friday.

8 members for today’s stableford round, it was so humid early on but eased as day wore on with some breeze cooling us down. Saturday night a storm came through and caused a fair bit of damage, there must be a hundred or so rubber trees either uprooted or just snapped in half, all around the course there are huge mature trees on there side some trees as high as 100 feet are snapped in half. To the results, in 1st place was Stuart Duncan with 40 points, and in 2nd with 37 points was Randy “Rambo” Tesil

There were 18 members for our Stableford round in very humid conditions today.  Even so there were some good scores with Yung Beece taking the winners position with 42 points.  There was a tie for second between Nigel Stubbs and Andrew Aston with 37 points each.  Well done to the winners. The ‘birdie hole’ #12 went off in the first week to Chris Kendall and he kindly donated it, along with a 1000baht to our Charity – The Foundation for the Education of Rural Children.  An honorable mention goes to Soren Nielson for his Eagle on #7.  Try to remember it’s the gross score you need to check at the end of your round before signing your card, the computer will calculate your Stableford Points.

Maejo; 17.05.19

9 members again for today’s stableford round, conditions were hot and humid and most definitely affected most of us on the back 9. The low scores today perhaps reflect on the conditions with most scoring a lot lower on the back 9, rather thinking of a cold shower and beer. They have started to renew some of the greens, something we have to put up with and is also necessary to ensure the greens are kept in tip top condition in the future. Our results today are, in 1st place with 34 points was Jack Kuzina, 3rd equal with 33 points was Ric Cameron and Adam Jackson on 33 points

Hariphunchai, 15.05.19

Rain overnight had virtually no affect on the course, and it was in great condition although cored green much slower than normal at the moment. 8 members for todays Stroke comp plus one welcome visitor, Ronnie Peters who turned up to try his hand after a long lay off. The birdie hole today was the same hole on each nine, ie the 4th and the 13th. Nigel though he had it in the bag with a great 70 foot putt for his birdie until Milton sank a 45 footer on the next time around, so the prize was shared. As a consolation to Nigel Stubbs he went on to win the day with a nett 71, and second was Milton Reynolds with a nett 72. Well done to all and back to Stableford next week.

Milton and Nigel

Maejo; 15.05.19

Heavy overnight rain didn’t help our conditions today, it started out humid then the sun came out for a while and heated things up. We had 9 members today for our stableford round with some pretty average scores. Iain Craig was our winner today with 35 points, 2nd with 33 points was Rob Groontenhuijs and in 3rd was Ric Cameron on 32 points.

With regret we loose another long time member today, Craig Morriss is leaving tomorrow for Australia although i have no doubt he will back from time to time, safe travels Craig and good luck for you’re next chapter in life

Rob, Iain and Ric

No takers for the birdie hole so a roll over to next weeks stableford on courses 3 and 1. Some great scoring today, only 2 players outside the buffer zone. In second was Denise Reynolds with 39 points. First was Ted Taylor with 40 points. Well done all.

There were 21 members and 1 guest in today’s Stableford round.  All going off tees 1 & 10 in handicap order with the exception of a couple of late comers who fortunately rang ahead when caught in traffic.  Needless to say it’s still hot and humid and only if your lucky do you get a bit of a breeze.  Greens still haven’t properly settled down after coring & sanding but they are getting there.  Even so there were some good scores today and the birdie hole #11 went off to Roger Mack and Andrew Aston in the fourth week, well done.  The winner today was Barry Ralston who had 42 points, in second place was recent new member Phillip “John” Neilson with 38 points and tied in third place were regulars Nigel Stubbs and Leon Smiler with 37 points.  Congratulations to all our winners and contenders.

Andrew, Roger, Nigel, Barry, John, Leon

Maejo: 10.05.19

Stableford Nassau was my choice today, we had 11 members all getting off to a slightly early start in humid conditions, a breeze at time times helped but it was still hot and exhausting. Our winners today are, taking out the front 9 with 17 points was Ric Cameron, Stuart Duncan took out the back 9 also with 17 points and our overall winner today with 36 points was Alex Stewart.

A big farewell to Robert Green who is going back down under for a while, safe travels Bob and we hope to see you back with us in the future

Hariphunchai, 08.05.19

There were 7 members and one guest today in a little cooler conditions, course great but greens being cored and sanded. Our winner today with a great consistent round was Lesley Mullun with 38 points and equal second with 35 points were Ian Carr and Milton Reynolds. No takers for double birdie hole 4 and 13, so jackpot to next week.

Milton, Lesley and Ian

North Hill, 06.05.19

There were 7 members for today’s “Captain’s Choice” and Welcome to new member Takao Nishimura who joined the club today and will be a regular at our Monday Golf.  The event chosen today was a 3 ball better ball.  With Nishi playing for handicap the random draw of two teams could not have worked out better as was proven by the result.  Both teams ended up with 50 points each and both teams had 25 points on each nine.  So with no clear winner and by general consensus it was decided that all should go into the charity. Therefore no photo of winners but one of our new member who wishes to be called “Nishi”.

Note:  North Hill Members Tournament 25 May 2019 (4 man scramble) is NH members only at this stage so get your teams/individual names in to me ASAP (only open to 80 golfers).  Normal green fee.

Maejo; 06.05.19

Lanna, 06.05.19.

18 members today for a strokeplay event on courses 3 and 1, 17 in the competition. Welcome back to Tom Berger. It is with a heavy heart I have to announce that the birdie hole was taken after 15 weeks. Even sadder was the person was not aware it was the birdie hole! Well done Tom Berger!! Tied for third today were Lesley Mullen and Denise Reynolds with a nett 72. In second was Lamyai Praesarn with a nett 68. With a great nett 67 Kenny Jones was the overall winner, congratulations all.

Denise, Lamyai, Kenny and Lesley

North Hill, 03.05.19

Only 9 members for our stableford round today, we had no holdups today with only 48 bookings taken for the day, perhaps the heat and the smog is taking its toll. Inthanon Away Game, 02.05.19

Twenty four members today giving 12 two person teams for a 2 ball best ball Stableford competition. Some varied scores but a number of good scores. Fairways were dry, but the greens and around the greens were in very good condition. We had two closest to the pin holes, hole 6 was won by Joy Gariano at 11′ 6″ and hole 16 was won by Frank Schwarz at 10’7′, two very good shots. We were able to put three 4’s of the 1st tee and 3 4’s off the 10 tee, so no one had to wait too long for their start.

Honorable mentions to two teams on 44 points, Jack Cooper and Ashley Kim Sing, and Leon Smiler and Mike Roycroft.

Our Joint winning teams today both with 45 points were Lesley Mullun with Christian Friis, and Bob Green with Ralph Hamilton. Very good consistent scoring by both winning teams.

Our next away game will be at Mae Moh Golf Course. It is around a one hour forty / fifty drive but well worth playing if you have never been there. We hope for a good turn out. Date will be on the website in the next week when finalised. Event will be a scrambe.

Well done to all and thank you to all who attended.

Apologies for no photo – I forgot

Maejo; 01.05.19

11 members and 1 guest for today’s round in hot conditions. Our rounds took a little longer today due to having 138 bookings in the morning, you know its going to be a long day when you turn up and there is 80 or so carts lined up, it was however orderly with groups going off on 1 and 10. I have said it before, but the course is in fantastic condition and is an absolute pleasure to play on, in my opinion it has never been better. Our winners today with 37 points were Alex Stuart and Mike Roycroft,  3rd with 35 points was Andrew Aston, well done all.

Alex and Mike

Hariphunchai, 01.05.19
